Adele Brit Awards flip off to producers for cutting her speech short

British sensation Adele showed her displeasure to Brit Awards producers on Tuesday night by flipping off host James Corden when he interrupted her acceptance speech for Album of the Year. Adele, who was the star of this year’s Grammy Awards in the U.S., said she was “offended” by being cut off after receiving her second Brit Awards trophy.

The Adele middle finger salute was prompted by an unfortunate interruption of her acceptance speech for Album of the year by Brit Awards host James Corden. “Nothing beats coming home with six Grammys and then coming to the Brits and winning album of the year,” Adele said as she stepped up to the microphone after accepting the award.

Before Adele even had a chance to get into her thank you list, Brit Awards host James Corden stepped up beside her onstage and interrupted her. The audience responded to the move with loud boos. Adele was also less than pleased.

“Are you about to cut me off? Can I just say then, goodbye and I’ll see you next round?” Adele asked sarcastically, and then flipped Corden the bird with her middle finger, leading the crowd to erupt in cheers as the host introduced the next performing act, Blur.

A representative for ITV, which aired the Brit Awards, apologized to the singer for cutting her off so abruptly. “The Brits is a live event. Unfortunately the program was over-running and we had to move on. We would like to apologise to Adele for the interruption.”

Adele also issued an apology for giving the bird to Brit Awards host James Corden. Well, she sort of apologized in a snarky kind of way that wasn’t really an apology at all. “I flung the middle finger. That was for the suits at the Brit Awards, not my fans. I’m sorry if I offended anyone but the suits offended me.”

Corden, meanwhile, appeared to side with Adele despite being on the receiving end of her middle finger salute. “I just feel bad about having to cut Adele off,” Corden said in a post-Brits interview with ITV2. “I really dont’ understand quite why I was made to, but it’s not a very nice way to end … She’s the biggest star in the world. I don’t understand what happened but I’m upset about it.”
