An Amanda Knox book deal is inching closer to reality. The 24-year-old acquitted murder suspect has reportedly signed with literary agent Robert Barnett, who has repped such heavy-hitters as President Barack Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

Amanda Knox and her former Italian boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, were tried and originally convicted of the 2007 sexual assault and murder of Knox’s roommate Meredith Kercher in Italy. Both were aquitted in an an appeal in October and released from prison in Italy after serving four years.

Both Knox and Sollecito have maintained they are completely innocent of the crimes for which they were convicted.

According to, Raffaele Sollecito, has also landed a literary agent. Sollecito has reportedly signed with Martin Literary Management based in Seattle. The agency is reportedly interviewing writers to partner with Sollecito on his tell-all book.

Agent Sharlene Martin said she “consistently believed in the innocence of Raffaele Sollecito and Amanda Knox and it seemed to me from the beginning that it made no sense to think that these two were guilty of the tragic murder of Meredith Kercher.” Martin has previously landed deals for several New York Times bestselling authors.

“I believe this has potential to sell in many foreign language territories,” Martin said of the Raffaele Sollecito book deal in a press statement. “My wonderful foreign co-agent, Taryn Fagerness, will handle the foreign sales on behalf of MLM.”

“I’m honored to work with this fine young man and let the world know the real Raffaele — a sensitive, compassionate and heartfelt person,” Martin said.
