American Idol 2012 Elimination Results Top 6: Who Got Voted Off?

On the American Idol 2012 elimination results show Thursday night, we finally found out which contestants will make it through to the top 5 and who would be making their final swan song. The American Idol predictions for elimination out there this week were a mixed bag and the voters have been doing all sorts of crazy things lately, so it was really anyone’s guess who would go home on the elimination results show this time.

Who was voted off American Idol 2012 this week? Was there a last minute surprise elimination no one was predicting? Or were the results as boring as some of the performances last night? Read on in our American Idol 2012 elimination results show recap to find out!

WARNING: AMERICAN IDOL 2012 SPOILERS AHEAD!

Please stop reading here if you have not seen Thursday night’s episode and do not want to know who was voted off American Idol 2012 this week!

In my American Idol 2012 predictions for this week’s elimination results show, I predicted that Jessica Sanchez, Phillip Phillips and Joshua Ledet would be safe this week. These choices were not so much about their overall track records or their performances on American Idol last night, but more about what kind of support they would manage to pull from their fan bases for various reasons in this round.

I narrowed down who I thought would be in the bottom three in the American Idol 2012 elimination results Thursday night to Hollie Cavanagh, Skylar Laine and Elise Testone. Although I personally feel that Skylar Laine and Elise Testone are more deserving of being saved than either Hollie Cavanagh or Phillip Phillips (especially after last night), I think their fan bases are just too narrow to push them out of the bottom three this week.

Because Hollie Cavanagh was in the sweet spot this week (singing last with a strong performance), and her fan base is pissed off at how people keep dismissing her, I predicted that Hollie would be declared safe this week. That would leave Elise Testone and Skylar Laine to battle it out in the bottom two in the American Idol 2012 elimination results show this week.

If I were going to choose between Elise Testone and Skylar Laine, I would personally have to choose Elise because I just love her bluesy, rocker voice and true passion to be on that stage. Sadly, however, I think Elise Testone does not have strong enough support to beat out country cutie Skylar Laine. Thus, I had predicted that Elise Testone would be the one going home this week.

Was I right in my American Idol 2012 predictions this week? Or was I horribly wrong because the voters decided to get all crazy again? Let’s move right along to those results and find out!

To get us started off on tonight’s American Idol elimination results show, host Ryan Seacrest tells us there were 58 million votes after last night’s show to determine who got voted off American Idol tonight. Before we get started on those results, we have a performance by official tribute band Queen Extravaganza doing “Somebody To Love.” Not quite like watching the real Queen in action, but still a rocking good time and the lead singer just did a backflip on stage! Original Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor are killing it with the band. The performance receives a standing ovation from the judges. Apparently Joshua Ledet is not the only person who actually gets those.

Delaying to getting to those results for longer, we have a bit where Ryan Seacrest sends the remaining top 6 contestants off to gossip mongers TMZ to learn some tips on dealing with the media. Phillip Phillips is advised to own being a sexy man. Whatever. Kind of cute but let’s get to the results already!

Finally we have our first two up for the results, Jessica Sanchez and Elise Testone. Jimmy Lovine thought Jessica Sanchez performing “Bohemian Rhapsody” was a disaster but he loved her second song,”Dance With My Father Again.” Lovine wasn’t fond of either of Elise’s performances last night and thinks she could be in a lot of danger of elimination this week. One of the contestants is safe, one is in the bottom three. Can you guess which is which? Yeah, that was pretty easy… (Yes, it was Elise in the bottom three.)

Now we have another break from the results for an announcement and a performance. First up we have the news that American Idol 2012 live tour tickets will go on sale on Friday, May 11th. Former American Idol alumni Casey Abrams pops his head in with Ryan Seacrest while this is going on. Next we have American Idol alumni Stefano Lagone from season 10 up to perform his new single “I’m On A Roll.”

Finally, more results! Joshua Ledet and Hollie Cavanagh are the next to face the music. One will be safe and one will be up for elimination in the final three. And the next person in the bottom three is… Hollie Cavanagh.

Yet another break in the results as Katy Perry takes the stage to perform her single “Part of Me.” Actually, Katy Perry is not sounding all that great this evening. Good thing she doesn’t get a critique from the judges…

Thank goodness, Katy Perry is now off the stage and we have two more contestants to face the judgement of the voters for the evening, Skylar Laine and Phillip Phillips. And the person finishing out the final three tonight will be… Skylar Laine!

Ryan is now going to send someone back to the safe zone and the voters have decided it will be… Skylar Laine. The bottom two this week are Hollie Cavanagh and Elise Testone.

Finally, we have the results for who got voted off American Idol 2012 tonight and it is… (scroll down for the final results…)

SAFE

  • Jessica Sanchez
  • Joshua Ledet
  • Phillip Phillips

BOTTOM THREE

  • Elise Testone
  • Hollie Cavanagh
  • Skylar Laine

BOTTOM TWO

  • Hollie Cavanagh
  • Elise Testone

VOTED OFF AMERICAN IDOL 2012

There we have it, the viewers have spoken and now we know who got voted off American Idol 2012 this week. What do you think of who the voters sent home Thursday night? Do you agree with the choice or do you think they were totally off their rockers? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below!

  1. too bad, she’s a lot more talented than some who remain. I’m so sick of Philip Philip’s I could puke. I think he’s worn out the Dave Matthews thing and really is undeserving to be in the top 5. He’ll do great things like Kris Allen, Taylor Hicks, oh wait, did I say great? I meant irrelevant!

  2. I would have chosen Hollie. Elise deserved another week. Hollie is just too generic to be a star…she reminds me of high school musicals.

  3. I have to agree that Hollie is very high school and amateur.  I also can’t stand Phillip Phillips.  His song choices are all the same and boring!  I think Hollie should have been voted off tonight and Elise should have waited one more week.

  4. Jessica bombed with the first song as Philipp did with his second. I thought Joshua was the most consistant followed by Elise and Skylar. I really believe the fan base never clicked with Elise because of her age and style. She may leave Idol but IMO, I believe we will be hearing more from her.

  5. Thanks for the quick recap and the way you laid it out (with the elimination at the end). I stopped watching after the first top 12/13? show because I found none of them to be very interesting and/or original. But I’m still curious enough to see how the competition unfolds.  Even in the few episodes I did watch I agree with other comments here.  Each week that goes by makes me more and more glad I stopped watching. Hope there’s better talent, and some different judges, next year.

  6. Idol is becoming disgusting. This young lady needed to go three or four weeks ago. Phillip needed to go two weeks ago. People are not voting for the best for the next American Idol, they are trying to see who they can hurt, by taking their frustrations out on the contestants because of the judges. Forget the judges, they have no vote, and those who are trying to mess up the system need to get a life. Those who are in the top will have contracts and make CDs for years to come. The rest will fall by the wayside like a few others down the road. Look at Jennifer Hudson, she was voted off too early and she has gone on to fame and fortune. I have decided not to try to vote any more. What good does it really do. The voting rules should be changed for the good of this show.

  7. This season there WERE some really talented contestats. There are only one or two left – the others are just plain annoying. I stopped watching because I couldn’t stand to be annoyed by the twangy screechy voices, and then the judged paying homage to it. The one remaining GREAT talent is Joshua. He is extraordinary. Jessica is good, too – not great, but good.

  8. I agree with all the PP comments… I think he is horrible and has an average voice at best… Every song sounds the same with him… Unfortunately, I also think Elise needed to go…she has so much potential but needs coaching…every time I think dhe’s going to nail it…she disappoints.

  9. I agree that the voting rules should be changed. It seems viewers from smaller cities or towns tend to vote more for their ‘idols’.

  10. From the older viewers, I vote for Hollie.  I loved her last song last night.  The judges have been down on her from the beginning and I think that has hurt her.  I think she should still be in and I hope Phillip goes next week.  Skylar is not a favorite either.

  12. Jessica Sanchez is so talented and versatile singer.  At her young age, she sings like a pro. I would rather have Hollie Cavanagh to have voted off.  Right, Elise Testone needed a good coach on her choices of songs.

  14. Although I would have voted for Elise..I can’t…so, I think that Joshua has been touted too much…the best and most talented, in my mind, is Jessica…Skylar next…..

  16. I think it’s Jessica Sanchez and Joshua Ledet on final showdown.  But I like the style of Jessica Sanchez.

  18. I do NOT agree that Elise should have went before Hollie…Come on now! She at least has a very unique, raspy, rocker voice who performs well! All the rest just sound like ‘already heard voices!’

  20. I don’t know why everyone thinks Joshua is so great!!  He screams too much.  I think the first song I really liked the whole season was his second song last night.  I think Elise has a better unique voice than he does.  Don’t forget  they make them sing songs that are not necessarilly in their area.  Philip Philip sounds too much alike in all his songs, I don’t think I could handle a whole CD of his.  I have liked a couple of his songs, but as we go on, they are all sounding the same.
I like Hollie, she just sounds better with certain songs, same as Elise.
I have always enjoyed American Idol, but getting tired of them making them sings songs not in their style.

  22. But I should also say this….I about fell over when I heard the results that Kris Allen (yeah, Kris Allen who?) won over Adam Lambert! That was just insane to say the least!!!  Come now … who agrees????

  24. I vote for Hollie just because she has been treated poorly by the worst judges in Idol history.  JLo says something like, “maybe I shouldn’t say this but Joshua is my favorite”.  How rude!  You’re right, you shouldn’t say things like that.

  26. I think they got it right. Elise is good but her song choices are not mainstream. I thought Skylar would fair better because American Idol voters picked two country western types as#1 and #2 last year. Holly is has a great voice but she fails to connect on an emotional level with her songs. Joshua and Jessica should be the top two. They both catch the right feelings in songs that resonate with one’s soul. Phillip Phillips is to one-dimensional. I’m getting tired of him. Tonight’s results were pretty much as expected. I’m a little surprised Holly wasn’t voted off. I think she’s cute and the young guys voting probably helped her survive another week.

  28. Next to go home in my opinion is Hollie Cavanagh, Philip Philips, Skylar and the final two showdown of Jessica Sanchez and Joshua  Ledet.

  30. Medik99 absolutely nailed it! What the heck, why is no one on the show telling little Phillip he can’t make it by being a clone of someone else (Dave Mathews) instead they’re telling him he’s so cute and sexy and wonderful, it’s just ridiculous. I think this is the worst year yet of Idol and as much as I like Steven Tyler the judges fawning all over everyone has been sickening also. I don’t get it and if this Philips kid wins I think I really am done with this show…

  34. Final showdown will be Joshua and Skylar.  You heard it here first.  The next two eliminations will be Holly and Jessica; Philip Phillips will be last to go before the final elimination.  So who wins?  Personally, I hope it’s Skylar, but it seems that Joshua has the stronger fan base.  Question is, who will Elise’s votes go to next week?

  36. That was just absolutely wrong…This is the point that I really hate AI because it comes down to politics…who can get the most votes. and for sure there are some who live in bigger cities so get more votes

  38. Totally right, the people were right, and I hope Jessica and Joshua win the last two, and either one who wins I will be happy. By far they are the best, and I have picked the winner every year since it has been on. That makes me happy. Yes, there were a few where I picked the winner, and someone who we never hear of won, and the ones I picked went on to fame and fortune, Like Clay, like Jennifer Hudson, etc. Love the game, use to be in the talent business, would love to be back in it, always loved the challenge. May the best win, and it is not always the winner who wins big in the end. To be 16 and sing like a pro already, well, many did it a long time ago, when I was young. Then we could sing the tunes, now, so many tunes are not something to remember, but it is a new generation. But, I like humming something I could never forget. That is because it stuck in my soul, now, that is music. I hate to say it, but I just have to turn off Idol sometimes because the screaming just does not set well with my take on what is music. After all, I had to book people who could sing and amaze the crowd. Every generation has its idols. So, the best will win if the people see and hear the real talent.

  40. My LEAST favorite of the six is Joshua.  I have enjoyed the talent of the contestants, and am sorry to see Elise go.  Best of luck to her, and I think it will be very interesting to see who’s in the finals.

  42. I am an older person, and was around when Motown was a powerful force in music.  When Joshua sings, it brings me right back to my misspent youth.  Randy refers to Wilson Pickett and Sam and Dave, who are probably acts which the mostly young audience has never heard of.  This is a familiar  style to him and to me, and Joshua is great at it.  Doesn’t sound like shouting to me.

  44. Philip phillips has always been boring he ruins every song he sings if you can call it singing. Boring and makes all songs sound deppressing and slow.

  46. Skylar, elise, and joshua!!! How in the hell is phillip still on this show? He sucks!!! I guess the judges really do pick out there favorites at the begining. They sent home some really good talent!

  48. its so clear joshua is the best singer by a mile its untrue. he is week in week out given a standing ovation by all the judges. none of the others are and the judges TELL the american public he is the best as well. i do take note of the judges as they are a lot better then the general public to make a positive unbiased view of the contestants. joshuas voice is also unique as well and boy is it powerful. he sings with controlled passion and if the american public could realise it he could be the next big thing to come out of the states. i dont know exactly what they ate listening to but to me i think phillips is past his sell by date now. i really liked him at 1st but its the same old thing, nothing has changed with him for the past 4/5 weeks. jessica has a very good voice although she is easily put out of her comfort zone by certain styles of song as are skylar and holly. to me joshua is the class act here and deserves to win idol. people will have their own thoughts but if yr looking for a potential superstar he is the kiddie.

  50. you need to get a hearing aid lady if you think joshua cant sing. he is leagues ahead of the rest. listen and watch the judges. they know who is the best, joshua. he is the only person EVERY week who is given a standing ovation. none of the others are. clean your ears out before making silly comments please. ty

  52. I had just gotten in to watching it somewhat faithfully the last couple weeks, it I agree, I like the unique-ness of Elise and that she doesn’t sound and look like a child. As I also like Joshua and Skylar, I am sad to see Elise leave. I think Hollie should have left first. But I’m sure (and i hope) we will still be hearing from her sometime in the near furture. Look at Kelly Pickler and Chris Daughtry(first and last idol season I have watched faithfully, until now) they are both my favorites and neither of them won, they both went home kinda early but still made it to fame with some pretty awesome albums!!!

  54. Joshus so one dimensional — churchy oversinging. He needs to go. Yeah do Motown and out of AI.

  55. Does it even matter who can sing and who can’t, it’s nothing but a popularity contest. I’m done with this show unless they change the judges and the voting!

  56. Hollie will get my votes (yes plural) each and every week till the very end because so many including Steven Tyler and Dog Jackson keep giving her the negative vibe to the viewers who will respond in kind to supporting their favorite.

  57. I dont like Philips & Styler voice, kidda hurt my ears hearing them sing, orry.  Jessica & Jushua are good. Hollie shld voted off before Elise.

  58. I love jessica sanchez so much….keep up the good work jessica sanchez….we are proud of you…GOD BLESS and GOOD LUCK…

  59.  I don’t think you know what talent is! This is the best top 10 idol has ever seen. The top 5 will all get recording contracts and Jessica and Joshua will go further than any other idol has yet! Clean out your ears!

  60.  Obviously you have no clue when it comes to talent! Yes Joshua and Jessica are so in a league of their own!

  61. elise should have gone home last week .. colton should still be there … hollie is okay .. but i think elise was a good choice for tonight!!

  62. After reading all these comments I realize that more than half of Americans have no clue what real talent is! This is why people like Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber become superstars. Joshua and Jessica are definitely the top 2! Wake up America!

  63. Come on guys, your missing the one that should have been gone long before now…….Skylar!  I’m so tired of hearing the judges praise her as if she’s great!  That hill-billy tone is sickening….and did somene say “cute” ?  Are you kidding me?

  64. over here in Australia it is harder for us to judge because Americans have a different taste than us in music i think..but all i know is they are all very talented except that creepy freak Phillips..yuk..i hate watching him.he makes my skin crawl and he loves himself to death it appears..just saying.. to me personally top 3 were Skylar,Jessica and either Joshua or Holly…but i dont really like Joshua he seems limited as to his songs ..then again i cant sing to save my life..lol

  65. not a fan of Hollie…but its better to see Elise go home than her

but i would prefer Philip to exit because i’m getting bored of his performance already
but i would like to see the judges faces if Joshua got booted out…too much hype and pimping

  66. Jessica is BORING! Not even close to an artist. I feel like I’m watching a high school junior struggle to be average in the annual musical held in the gym. She failed on “America’s Got Talent” for a reason. Wake up people.

  67. not a fan of Hollie

but with all the negative comments of the judges in most of her performance…..it may not be the greatest but its not that bad as judges think it is..IMO

so i would like Hollie to WIN
just to see the reaction in the judges faces…LOL

i dont like Joshua or Philip

  68. everytime i read an article and watch on youtube about AI its kind of annoying to read the comments

“Jessica is a filipino, she is so great”

if she is a filipino and just pretending to be an american i think she needs to go back to that corrupt, poverty ridden, slum infested country of philippines

  69. We don’t get to vote in New Zealand but still watch the show however this year I have to say that no one stands out as great. When I think back to Adam Lambert (who should have won by the way) and Jordan Sparks they really stood out. it feels like the judges have lost the plot and the show has become quite boring we don’t even watch the second night now just look up results. Show after show the judges rave about someone who I think is so average like Philip Phillips (yawn). The big test for me is whether I would buy their CD or download their songs or buy a ticket to a concert and doubt I would for any of this years, however Adam Lambert def and his concert was great. The only person who I really like is Jessica but jury is out really. Disappointing series overall.

  70. Pure Stupidity, how could you lot vote Elise off and kept that pretty tasteless blobde Holly. Smh and kmt

  71. The judges of American Idol are there to judge and make constructive criticism for the contestants to absorb and be able to grow and learn and make themselves better for the next competition. I am disgusted with one of the judges saying: “can i say that this is the best idol show because Joshua is in it?” somewhere along those lines. How would you think the other contestants would feel that a certain judge is doing favoritism?
I know for a fact that Joshua can sing and i believed he will make it to the finals and maybe 2012 American idol. BUT PLEASE , watch what you say on national television. Do not make other contestant think that they are not good enough like Joshua.

  72. I don’t get why people are saying Phillip should go. He’s amazing and makes me smile every time he’s on. I definitely think he’ll make it all the way. I love every song he has sung so far and don’t doubt he will be in the finals, probably even the winner. Elise had been in the bottom three for ages and it was wearing a bit thin. It was bound to happen eventually.

  73. I personally think phillip Phillips is amazing. He’s sexy and he’s got something that no other singer has. Hr is verrrryyy good . I swear I will never watch American idol ever again if he gets voted off. Hollie is the next to go,followed by Jessica then skylar. It will be between phillip and Joshua although I wish America would send him the hell home!!! What’s all the hype about Jess and josh ?? Yall wouldn’t know a good singer if they hit you in the face !! Phillip Phillips is by far the best ever !! Nuff said

  74. Phil Phillips turned in the BEST performance all season with his second performance of DMB’s “the Stone”.. I am sick of Joshua and Jessica.. Hopefully they are gone soon..final will be Phil and Skylar.

  75.  And we have a winner for the most brain dead comment of the day!! Congrats for being ignorant!!

  76. Like i said hollie sang one song i liked and it saved her ass on thurs. I still think she shouldn’t have been in the top ten They should’ve picked shelby tweeten ove hollie in the beggining and we only need one dave mathews so philip instead of colton should’ve gone:(

  77. I think thruogh out, she have been over rated and should have been gone a long time ago.  The other person that don’t belong there is Philip -“My God” every time he sings I switch to another channel – if he wins he will be a dead beat idol.

  78. i think your really sick of thinking jessica would lose philip will be eiminated soon….lmfao..lol!!!!!

  79. wake up to.. do you have ears men…your boring too. use your sense os hearing you might left it in your speakers..lmfao

  80. Elise: how could she stand in the crowd with such an “ass-h'” attitude – she’s been practically rude to the judges and basically vented back “is that all you got” to one of her admirer? no wonder no one admires her any more!
Hollie: got a beautiful voice but a bit amateur to be in the top 5, and won’t go too far from here.Philip Philips: I appreciate his unique talent, but he lacks diversity and that’s what bounds him lower than the others in this competitionSkyler: I’ve liked her more and more because of her energy and her range of voice, and also she’s talented (Jimmy V says she’s both a song-writer and a technical singer, spot on). However her fate is sealed because didn’t we just got a country -singer last year who won?Jessica: really really really talented at her age of 16. Her diversity and range of voice are amazing. Technically, she’s on top of others. However, she still lacks a bit of stage performance and depth of experience to sometimes relate to the audience. Her high range is perfect but her shortfall appears to be her low range vocal which is less penetrating than ideal

Final winner: Joshua Ledet it is. Absolutely powerful singer plus stage experience and performances. He’s got a full package ready. Yes some people have prejudice against him just because he appears to be black or a “church-singer” (really? have you really heard all the songs he’s sung – such a diverse range of song choices – far from church music!)

  81. i heard of elise and hollie songs but i think jessica sings better…i think joshua and jessica will be in the finals .. im sorry if i offended you..

  82. Joshua is terrible. He’ll never be able to sing anything other than gospel music and if he does…well, it’ll sound like gospel music either way

  83. I don’t understand why everyone loves to hear Joshua scream. He can sing great when he wants to, but then he always ends up screaming, and it’s horrible. Why would anyone want to buy a recording of someone screaming?

  84. Here’s what I think of the contestants:
Phillip: I believe he has a very interesting voice. I think he would be better if he could write his own songs.
Hollie: I honestly hate to say this but her voice is annoying to me. I think she is way below the level of all the other contesants.
Jessica & Joshua: They obviously have amazing voices and I think they will go far.
Sklar: Love country but she’s not my favorite don’t like all of the twang in her voice.

  85. Yes it should be between Jessica and Skylar and Skylar is better for america Jessica is good but.boring

  86. I love PP’s voice, but like so many have said, his songs are all pretty much the same. I think Hollie has a great voice and I never noticed her lack of emotion until it was pointed out over and over. But don’t you think the English are sort of that way? Maybe that is why. Jessica is awesome-squared when the song is right, but there are some genres she just can’t pull off. I think Joshua can do amazing things with his voice, but I don’t really like the sound of it! And Skylar – I’m not a big country fan, but if I was, I would think she was pretty good. And I love her energy! Just my opinion…:)

  87. I forgot Elise! I love her raspy voice, and she absolutely KILLED Whole Lotta Love (who can sing that song???). But I get the feeling that it pisses her off when she gets any criticism, and that she feels sort of superior to the others because she’s in a band and she teaches voice. She learned to hide it better as the season progressed, but you could still see it very subtly.

  88. I hate that Elise got voted off, I liked her style of singing! I hope she gets a record deal, I will buy it! I think that Joshua is the most entertaining and puts the most heart in his songs , of the ones that are left. I think that it will come down between Skylar and Joshua!

  89. America got talent! Wow that was a long time ago. I think now she is more mature as singer. Wake up Kiki. Hater!

  90. Jessica is definitely the best. If she doesnt win its because of her race… Joshua is good as well , when he song the ballet it was the first time a feel as if i really heard him sing, so if he sings more and less screaming he will be ok. Hollie is so generic, because she is a young cute blond she is still standing, I liked Phillip at first, he always sound the same and has no rythem, so stiff. He moves like a duck. Skylar good! Seems as if she puts on the twain voice, wouldnt doubt if she wasnt country at all. Go Jessica!!! She is the best…

  91. I think this season they are all talented. Its been great to watch. Thansk to all the contestants

  92. I wonder if a Filipino housemaid took care of ur household so ur parents can go to work so they can provide for ur needs growing up. Too bad u did not take full advantage of what blessings ur parents gave u like GOOD BREEDING and KINDNESS .

  93. Ayyyyayyyayyyy. Have u gone 2 the Philippines? Do not generalized . Ask ur parents first what country your parents’ parents originated. I don’t think u were born w/ a silverspoon in ur mouth.

  94. All I can say is a miss Colton Dixon on the show . He should of never left . I don’t really get the Phillip Phillips thing but I’m sure the younger ladies are voting for him- which deff helps . Jessica is a very good singer . But I prefer skylar out if the ladies .
