American Idol 2012 Pays Tribute to Dick Clark

American Idol 2012 is in a last minute scramble to put together a ‘fitting tribute’ to late American Bandstand host Dick Clark for the live show on Wednesday night. Dick Clark died Wednesday morning of a heart attack at the age of 82.

American Idol 2012 host Ryan Seacrest was especially upset by the death of legendary TV host Dick Clark as he has cohosted Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve since 2005/2006. Dick Clark suffered a dehabilitating stroke in 2004 and could no longer host the show on his own. Ryan Seacrest was officially named his successor a couple of years ago.

In a press statement after hearing Dick Clark died, American Idol 2012 host Ryan Seacrest called the late TV personality and producer one of his “greatest influences.”

“When I joined his show in 2006, it was a dream come true to work with him every New Year’s Eve for the last six years,” Seacrest said.

“He was smart, charming, funny and always a true gentleman. I learned a great deal from him, and I’ll always be indebted to him for his faith and support of me. He was a remarkable host and businessman and left a rich legacy to television audiences around the world. We will all miss him.”

According to E! News, Ryan Seacrest will lead a tribute to Dick Clark on American Idol 2012 Wednesday night, recognizing the American Bandstand host in “as meaningful a way as possible.” Seacrest will reportedly give a short spoken tribute to his fallen friend and mentor during the show.
