Country singer Skylar Laine said she was not surprised when she was voted off American Idol 2012 this week. The 18-year-old from Brandon, MS told reporters on Friday she had a “gut feeling” she would be the one going home rather than Hollie Cavanagh on the American Idol 2012 elimination results show Thursday night.
“I wasn’t surprised, because I don’t know. I just got a gut feeling when I came back up there and I stood there, Skylar Laine told reporters in a press conference call on Friday. “I told Hollie, I said, ‘I think you’re about to be surprised,’ because she thought she was going home.”
Skylar Laine said Hollie Cavanagh even argued with her about who would get voted off American Idol 2012 Thursday night but she was convinced it would be her. “I said, “I told you so” after, because I wasn’t surprised. You can’t be because you never know what’s going to happen.”
On American Idol 2012 this season, Skylar Laine said she did everything she could to show America what she had to offer. “I really think that I showed everything that I could, you know? I showed ballads, I showed upbeat songs,” Laine said. “I showed passion; I showed anger in my songs. I really think that I showed a lot of stuff and I wouldn’t change a thing that I did on the show.”
Skylar Laine said the most challenging part of her time on American Idol 2012 was “just staying true to myself.” Oh, she added with a laugh, “walking in high heels.”
As far as making an American Idol 2012 prediction about the winner this season, Skylar Laine said she absolutely “could not pick at all. I wouldn’t pick even if I could because they’re all so amazing and I love them all.”
For her future after American Idol, Skylar Laine said she is looking forward to writing more songs, collaborating and hopefully making an album and going on tour. “I just want to thank everyone for all the support,” Laine said. “I just want to say that I hope to be talking to ya’ll in the future.”
