American Idol 2012 Top 7: Josua Ledet – ‘Runaway Baby’ (VIDEO)

Before his performance on the American Idol 2012 top 7 show on Wednesday night, Joshua Ledet received a lovely birthday video message from previous American Idol winner Fantasia. We’d also like to extend our happy birthday wishes to Joshua!

For his song for Wednesday’s ‘songs from this decade’ theme, Joshua Ledet chose to take on “Runaway Baby” by Bruno Mars. Guest mentor Akon was all over Joshua’s voice and thought it was seriously killer. Jimmy Iovine loved the song choice, but wants the band to back off a bit so Joshua’s stellar voice has a chance to shine more.

The judges were in love with Joshua’s performance once again, although I sensed they were holding back with the big guns of praise just a tiny bit. Jennifer Lopez was a big fan of how much control Joshua had in his voice. “You are so dynamic, you take control of the audience,” she said.

Steven Tyler was also very pleased with the performance. “You can sell a song like a work of art because your voice is that good,” Tyler said. Randy Jackson was beyond pleased, he was downright ecstatic. “I don’t even know what to say,” he said. “You were unbelievable, you have the look and the vocals, you are really in the zone.”
