For her performance on American Idol 2012 top 7 night, petite powerhouse Jessica Sanchez went for a song with a bit less of a recognition factor – “Stuttering” by Jazmine Sullivan, but Jimmy Iovine thinks it is a great song choice for her. Guest mentor Akon is in love and can’t believe how amazing her voice is. He thinks she just might be the one to take the whole thing.

The judges gave Jessica a lot of praise, but it wasn’t quite as overwhelming as usual in my opinion. They seemed a bit hesitant to give her quite as huge props on the song as they have in the past.
“You have so much control in your voice, you are so dynamic, you take control of the audience,” Jennifer Lopez said. However, she also poked at Jessica a bit by saying, “You have an amazing opportunity to take America on a ride. I would love to see some Joshua type performances, take us on that ride.”
Steven Tyler thought Jessica had amazing “never to sing that song” and said “every time I hear you sing I forget where I am.”
Randy Jackson was perhaps the most glowing about the performance and said he loved the arrangements Jessica does and thought she “set the bar really high, that was superb at the highest degree … you did an amazing job and slayed the biggest fish of the night.”
