American Idol winner Ruben Studdard IRS trouble again

Former “American Idol” winner Ruben Studdard and estranged wife Zuri McCants are in trouble with the IRS again after failing to pay nearly $200,000 in taxes. This is the second time Rubben Studdard has been slapped by the IRS for failure to pay his taxes.

In 2008, Ruben Studdard landed in hot water for not paying $200,000 in taxes owed to the IRS. A property lien was filed against him and his wife to recover the revenue. Now the IRS has filed another lien against the former couple for over $180,000 for back taxes owed from 2009.

Ruben Studdard and Zuri McCants met in October, 2006 at a Wal-Mart in Atlanta where the “American Idol” alumni was signing CDs. A representative for Studdard announced the couple had separated in November of 2011 and were in the process of filing for divorce for “irreconcilable differences.”

Hopefully Studdard, who won in “American Idol” season 2, will rake in some extra dough from his fifth studio album, “Letters From Birmingham,” due to drop on March 13.
