Amy Winehouse‘s ex-husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, is in a coma on life support in a British hospital. He is reportedly suffering from multiple organ failure and clinging to life after an alleged drug and alcohol overdose.
Blake Fielder-Civil, 30, was found by paramedics, semi-concious and choking in his bed last Friday. Sarah Aspin, who has a 15-month-old son with Fielder-Civil, told The Sun that she does not know if he will survive.
“The doctors say they don’t know the prognosis,” Aspin said. “They said they put him in a coma to help him and due to infection.” Blake Fielder-Civil reportedly came home on Friday and was staggering and slurring his speech. After finding him barely able to speak and incoherent, Sarah Aspin called paramedics in fear for his life.
According to MTV.com, emergency responders found Blake Fielder-Civil in critical condition. He had apparently swallowed his tongue, was choking on his own vomit and had a collapsed lung.
“I’m praying he’ll survive, but I’m having to prepare myself that he may never wake up,” said Aspin, who met Fielder-Civil in rehab three years ago. “I am devastated, just devastated, at what has happened. I just want to cry all the time, but I have to be strong for our son, Jack.” Aspin said Fielder-Civil had been drinking and may have taken an ‘illicit substance’.
Superstar singer Amy Winehouse, Fielder-Civil’s ex-wife, died a year ago from an accidental alcohol overdose. Fielder-Civil has a history of hard drug use, including a heroin addiction. He has been repeatedly arrested on charges of assault and burglary and his relationship with Amy Winehouse included bouts of extreme drug use and violent physical altercations. Blake Fielder-Civil has been blamed by Winehouse’s family, friends and many fans for leading her down the path to becoming a hardcore drug and alcohol addict, which eventually led to her death.
