Comedian and Howard Stern sidekick Artie Lange was admitted to a hospital in New Jersey on Saturday. No information has been released on his condition, but his gigs through February appear to have been cancelled.

“We can confirm that Artie is in the hospital,” a rep for the comedian said in a press statement. “Artie has chosen to keep all information on this matter between him and his doctor. There will be no further comment.”
Artie Lange has been absent from The Howard Stern Show since the beginning of December. Lange has also cancelled several high-profile shows and his engagements through February have been marked as “cancelled” on his official website.
Lange was busted in 2009 on DUI charges for driving under the influence of prescription sleeping pills after crashing his car in July and underwent rehab treatment in 2008, leading some to speculate a drug problem might be behind his hospitalization.
Rumor has it Artie Lange may not find his old job on The Howard Stern Show waiting for him after he recovers from his mysterious ailment. Comedian Jim Breuer has allegedly been tapped to replace Lange on the show, something he may have hinted at in a recent Twitter post. Breuer Tweeted on Wednesday that he is “working on a secret project soon to hopefully be announced!”
