After watching who won The Biggest Loser 15 last night, we started to wonder whether perhaps winner Rachel Fredrickson might have lost too much weight. At The Biggest Loser finale on Tuesday night, Rachel weighed in at just 105 lbs, losing 155 in total during her time on the show.

Finding out Rachel Fredrickson was The Biggest Loser 15 winner was almost anticlimactic. All we could think about is whether or not she might have gone too far in pursuit of the grand prize. Honestly, we just could not even comprehend a person going from a size 20 to a size zero in just a few short months without practically starving themselves, no matter how intensive the training she underwent.

At 5-foot-5, Rachels weight at 24-years-old now puts her in the underweight category, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Not just a tiny bit under, but by a whole point underweight. For a woman 5-foot-5, a BMI of 18.5 or under is considered underweight. Rachel’s BMI is 17.5. We leave it to your judgement on whether or not you feel those kinds of numbers are accurate or should apply to Rachel’s unique circumstances.

Rachel herself doesn’t understand consider herself underweight and she doesn’t understand the huge outcry that has erupted over her massive weight loss on The Biggest Loser. Appearing on Today on Wednesday, Rachel said she is perfectly healthy and earned her weight loss naturally.

“I eat five times a day [and] I eat 1600 calories,” Rachel Fredrickson said. “We are given a calorie budget and I stuck to that. I followed the advice and support of the medical team at The Biggest Loser the entire journey and I’m going to continue on the path and maintain the healthy lifestyle.”

When pushed about the extreme nature of her weight loss, Rachel refused to admit to anything unhealthy going on.

“I have been on this seven-and-a-half month journey and I went to The Biggest Loser to find confident girl again. I was a national level athlete and I lost her and I missed her…. First and foremost my goals are to be healthy and strong. I’m extremely proud of the way I lost the weight on the show, I did everything so naturally. … My body is going to balance and find its rhythm with maintenance and it’ll be perfect.”

Do you think Rachel lost too much to try to have the perfect body and win The Biggest Loser 15?
