Dr. Seuss The Lorax weekend box office win breaks records

“Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax” weekend box office totals are breaking records, with a shocking $70 million in estimated ticket sales. Smashing past all expectations for the Universal Pictures animated film, “The Lorax” pulled off the biggest opening weekend of the year so far.

Starring the voices of Danny DeVito, Taylor Swift, Ed Helms and Zac Efron, “The Lorax” movie averaged a whopping $18,965 per screen in 3,729 theaters across the country. The environmentally themed film not only had the best opening weekend of the year, it also landed the largest opening ever for a non-sequel animated film. That record previously belonged to Pixar’s “The Incredibles,” which took the trophy back in 2004.

Princess Diana movie to star Naomi Watts

Naomi Watts will play the lead role in an upcoming Princess Diana movie about the British icon’s last two years of life, producers announced on Thursday. The Princess Diana biopic, “Caught in Flight,” will be directed by Oliver Hirshbiegel (“Downfall” from a screenplay by Stephen Jeffreys (“The Libertine”).

The Princess Diana movie, from Britain’s Ecosse Films, will focus on the two years before the beloved Princess of Wales died at 36 in a horrific car accident. The film charts Princess Diana’s search for “true personal happiness for the first time” while continuing to be “a major international campaigner and humanitarian” in the final years before her death.

Woman In Black Star Daniel Radcliffe Drunk While Filming Harry Potter

Woman in Black star Daniel Radcliffe admitted in a recent interview that he was drunk while filming scenes for the Harry Potter movies. While Daniel Radcliffe told Heat magazine he never actually drank on the set, he did show up to film while still drunk and it affected his performance.

“I have a very addictive personality,” the 22-year-old actor told Heat magazine. “It was a problem. People with problems like that are very adept at hiding it. It was bad. I don’t want to go into details, but I drank a lot and it was daily – I mean nightly.”

SAG Awards 2012 Winners and Losers

The Help needed no assistance at last night’s 2012 SAG Awards to come out on top. The film adaption of Kathyrn Stockett‘s novel of the same name landed the SAG Awards 2012 winners prize of Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, as well as honors for film stars Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer.

“I just have to say that the stain of racism and sexism is not just for people of color or women. It’s all of our burden, all of us,” Davis said, accepting the ensemble prize on behalf of her “The Help” co-stars.

The 2012 SAG Awards will be a strong boost for The Help going into the Academy Awards next month, where it will go up against The Artist, The Descendants, Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, Hugo, Midnight in Paris, Moneyball, The Tree of Life and War Horse for Best Picture.

Demi Moore Lovelace Role Goes to Mary-Louise Parker?

Demi Moore will reportedly be replaced by Weeds star Mary-Louise Parker in the role of Gloria Steinham in an upcoming Linda Lovelace biopic after the G. I. Jane star dropped out due to ‘exhaustion’. Demi Moore was hospitalized earlier this week after collapsing during a party at her home and going into convulsions. Gossip has it that Parker will be replacing Moore, although producers for the film have not confirmed this rumor.

Actress Demi Moore was rushed by ambulance from her home in Los Angeles to Sherman Oaks Hospital on Monday after suffering seizure-like symptoms during a birthday party she was hosting. According to TMZ.com, one of the star’s friends told paramedics at the scene that Moore had been inhaling whippets aka ‘whip-its’ containing nitrous oxide.
