Hip-hop mogul Chris Lightly dead of apparent suicide! Chris Lightly, manager of such superstar icons as 50 Cent, Mariah Carey and Diddy, was found dead at his New York apartment on Thursday morning. Chris Lightly died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot after a fight with his estranged wife, Veronica.

Chris Lightly, 44, was found dead at his Bronx apartment Thursday morning just after 11:30 AM, according to police reports. He had reportedly been arguing with his estranged wife, Veronica, just a short time before his death. Lightly was discovered lying face up with a .9-mm handgun beside his body.

The hip-hop mogul’s death appears to have been a suicide, according to early police reports, but no suicide note was found at the scene. Chris Lightly had been going through a heated divorce and was allegedly suffering serious financial problems and may have owed up to $5 million to the IRS.

Stars of the hip-hop and rap world took to Twitter after hearing the news of Chris Lightly’s death to express their grief.

“R.I.P. Chris Lightly. He was a dear friend of mine and I still can’t believe it,” Diddy posted.

“Rest peacefully Chris Lightly, my prayers go out to his family and loved ones! Dear God please have mercy,” Rihanna Tweeted.

America’s Got Talent 2012 host Nick Cannon stated on his Twitter feed that he is “devestated right now. I can’t believe my big brother Chris Lighty is gone… He was a pioneer, a mentor, and a great friend RIP. I truly believe to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, but I just feel like Chris’s work wasn’t finish on earth.”

Other celebrities such as John Legend, The Game, Kim Kardashian, Ludacris and more Tweeted their sorrow at learning Chris Lightly died. Ice T posted a particularly poignant series of Tweets proclaiming his sadness at the loss.

“If you are REALLY in Hip Hop you know Chris… If you’re not… You have NO idea how important and what a great person he was..I can’t hold back the tears…. Man!! No matter how big Chris got… He always treated me like the young kid I met, hustlin hard at the ‘New Music Seminar,'” Ice T posted. “Awwwwww man… Chris was my dude. I can’t believe this. we go back….”
