Tonight Show host Conan O’Brien is reportedly furious over the move of Jay Leno back to late night, which will push his show even later into the wee hours of the morning. NBC announced they would be moving Jay Leno to the 11:35 p.m. slot on the network, shoving The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien to 12:05 a.m.
Conan O’Brien was allegedly stunned and furious over the announcement his show would be knocked to a later time slot, according to the New York Post. “This level of sh–iness was not expected. He’s done a great job for NBC. He moved his entire staff, he moved his family to LA,” an unidentified ‘insider’ told the Post. “And five months later, they repay him like this?â€
NBC head Jeff Gaspin said the network hopes to keep Leno, O’Brien and Jimmy Fallon all on their late night lineup. They may not get their wish. Conan O’Brien is reportedly in talks to possibly jump to a rival network, according to The Wall Street Journal. Fox, in particular, has reportedly been courting O’Brien heavily for a late night program.
Conan O’Brien’s rep issued a statement saying that the late night comedian “has made no decisions yet” about his future with NBC.

Conan is sooooo much better than Leno! The point is, Leno is OVER. His ratings are dead because he is through. let him go. He’s got all the money in the world more cars than god and he should bow out tastefully. Conan is actually funny. Leno is gone. Believe me; NBC is making a huge mistake. Conan is the best thing to happen to that network in the last 20 years. Think about Jim, Angela, and all of his interns that went on to be part of the office. Conan’s contributions know no bounds. This isn’t even commenting on how awful it is to have moved the entire cast and crew to LA just to have Leno’s poor results affect someone who’s doing a great job. This is awful! Shame NBC! SHAME!
I agree! Me and many of his fans will be happy to watch FOX. My grandparents love Jay’s edge.
Conan is unique among comedians in my view–just about the only one with a successful career who’s never made me laugh.
Conan is is smart, quick, and original. Leno is old school. I never know what to expect from conan and that is why I have loved his show for over ten years. I watch it nightly. Love the coco. NBC has never made good decisions and conan is the only show I watch on that network. If he goes to fox then it saves me switching the channel to NBC ever again.
Conan is absolutely funnier than Jay Leno who is the real jerk here in my opinion. He is the catalyst & NBC is acting like Jay is the “Chosen One” & they are just going along with whatever he wants. It was Leno’s choice & decision to leave the Tonight Show in the first place, then he regretted it, came back to primetime where his ratings stink (not to mention his 10pm spot every weeknight screwed & sunk ratings for long running shows like SVU)& now since his ratings suck at 10:00 the best way for NBC to fix the problem is to reward him for stinking it up, & then basically snatch the job from the guy who they sought out to replace him & is actually doing exactly what they asked him to do, which is be successful. I don’t get it! NBC needs to take a look at their decision makers, because lately they are making a real mess of it. Conan, keep your floppy haired head up, myself and many, many others will be more than happy to watch your show on whatever network is lucky enough to have you.
