Dancing With the Stars All Stars 2012 Week 3 Performances:
Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy: (Charleston)
Judges: Len Goodman says Kirstie turns Monday into a fun day and he is happy she is happy. He would have liked it a little cleaner, but she gives the best fun! Carrie Ann Inaba says Kirstie looked stunning tonight and fabulous. She played to her strengths and they loved it. Bruno Tonioli says Kirstie is a darling mad woman and he loves her. She started out like Debbie Reynolds and ended up as Shelly Winters. He loved it. Paula Abdul says Kirstie danced it wonderfully and was a joy to watch; what a way to start off the night.
Scores: Carrie – 7.5, Len – 7.5, Bruno – 7.5, Paula – 7.5 = 30 of 40
Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas: (Rock N’ Roll)
Judges: Len says the only real failure is the failaure to try. They came out and gave it their all. It was kind of safe, but it was their best dance so far. Carrie Ann says it was a good job and she is proud of Bristol. She is blossoming and really coming to life. Bruno says Bristol finally got pumped up and hit all the steps. He says she just needed to focus and she was doing all the steps the way they should be done. Paula says she can see definite improvement and it looks like they were having fun. She says good job and keep pushing the boundaries.
Scores: Carrie Ann – 8, Len – 8, Bruno – 8, Paula – 8 = 32 of 40
Sabrina Bryon and Louis van Amstel: (Disco)
Judges: Len says he is having a moment! He thought it was fabulous and he was with her. Well done! Bruno says it was a vibrant and alive disco diva performance but Sabrina lost her timing twice. Still, it had all the glitz and glory of disco. Carrie Ann says last week she asked Sabrina to be more than she expected and this week it was all she wanted. She says Bruno was wrong that she lost timing and it was great. Paula says she was a match for Studio 54 and the dance was choreographed for Sabrina’s stengths. A few missteps but really good.
Emmitt Smith and Cheryl Burke: (Bolero)
Judges: Len says he was concerned about Emmitt with this dance because the Bolero is slow, but it was great and the lifts were fabulous and clean. Carrie Ann says days like this make her love her job. There is nothing like watching a big strong man get sexy. She says he articulated his lines gracefully and it was a good job. Bruno says Emmitt made the mood steamier than August in Louisiana and the desire in the dance was tangible. He says Emmitt had smooth lines and he has it! Paula says the dance was sensual and exquisite, he is a sexy beast. She says less is more and he left them all wanting more and more.
Scores: Carrie Ann – 9, Len – 9, Paula – 9, Bruno – 9 = 36 of 40
Gilles Marini and Peta Murgatroyd: (Bollywood)
Judges: Len says he may not know about Bollywood, but he knows what he likes and that was fantastic! Carrie Ann says it was beyond belief and Aladdin has nothing on Gilles. Everything was amazing form the expression to the lines and he brought the characters of the dance to life. Bruno says Gilles is a Bollywood star — exotic, witty and stylistically perfect. A Bollywood dream come to life. A Bollywood superstar is born. Paula says makes sexy faces and wiggles her body at Gilles but is so drowned out by the card, I have no idea what she said.
Scores: Carrie Ann – 10, Len – 9.5, Bruno – 10, Paula – 10 = 39.5 of 40
Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovoloni: (Jitterbug)
Judges: Len says Melissa is a classy dancer no matter what dance she is doing, it is clean and correct. This was more of a glitterbug than a jitterbug and it made him happy. Carrie Ann says Melissa is amazing and makes it look effortless but there were a few problems with the lifts. However, Melissa went for the difficulty and she appreciates it. Bruno says Melissa was fearless and did not miss a beat. It was near perfection and amazing. Paula says Melissa and Tony fit together like a hand in glove and the footwork and choreography was fantastic. She was very excited watching this dance.
Scores: Carrie Ann – 9, Len – 9, Paula – 9.5, Bruno – 9.5 = 37 of 40
Shawn Johnson and Derek Hough: (Mambo)
Judges: Len says there is good news from Goodman, he really, really liked it! The speed is great with all that athletic movement and the timing was brilliant. Carrie Ann says if she were the other contestants, she would be afraid of Shawn. Perfection in every little step. Bruno says it was out of this world sexy. You think you have seen it all and it just keeps getting better. Paula says Shawn has become a sexy young lady, it was down and dirty, elegant and perfect. Outstanding choreography and her favorite dance of the evening.
Scores: Carrie Ann – 10, Len – 9.5, Paula – 10, Bruno – 10 = 39.5
Apolo Anton Ohno and Karina Smirnoff: (Hip Hop)
Judges: Len says he wasn’t even looking at Karina because Apolo came out so fantastic. Carrie Ann says that everyone is outside of their comfort zone tonight and it is beautiful. She applauds Apolo for bringing the old school to the new school. Bruno says Apolo has the attitude, the mood and even made the running man look good. Paula gives Apolo kudos for the dance. He has the natural attitude and swagger.
Scores: Carrie Ann – 8.5, Len – 9, Bruno – 8.5, Paula 8.5 = 34 of 40
Kelly Monaco and Val Chmerkovskiy: (Contemporary)
Judges: Len says he loves the contrast of dance and that’s what this routine had. Fabulous. Carrie Ann says it was a stunning contemporary dance. Kelly really laid her heart out in the dance and that took courage. Bruno says it was the hardest dance for Kelly yet and a great achievement. Paula says it was a beautiful routine and amazing even with Kelly’s injury.
Scores: Carrie Ann – 9, Len – 9.5, Bruno – 9.5, Paula – 9.5 = 37.5
