On Dancing With the Stars All Stars 2012 this week, the celebrity contestants and their pro partners will honor Veteran’s Day with a special dance challenge. In the first dance of the night, the Dancing With the Stars All Stars cast will perform a ballroom dance to music honoring veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces. In the second round of the DWTS All Stars 2012 performances show on Monday, the couples will face the difficult challenge of a Latin dance trio. In honor of Veteran’s Day, the first round of dances on tonight’s Dancing With the Stars All Stars performance show will be dedicated to the veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces. In the audience for the show tonight will be veterans of several branches of the military, including two former Marines, William Franco Vasquez and Nick Jones Jr. (The two Marines will also be guests on ABC’s The Middle on November 14.)
For the second round of performances for the evening, the DWTS All Stars cast celebrities and their pro partners will be joined by a third dancer for a Latin trio routine. Here is how the trio teams line up for the evening:
- Apolo Ohno and partner Karina Smirnoff will be joined by Sasha Farber
- Emmitt Smith and partner Cheryl Burke will be joined by Kym Johnson
- Gilles Marini and partner Peta Murgatroyd will be joined by Chelsie Hightower
- Kelly Monaco and partner Valentin Chmerkovskiy will be joined by Louis Van Amstel
- Kirstie Alley and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy will be joined by Tristan MacManus
- Melissa Rycroft and partner Tony Dovolani will be joined by Henry Byalikov
- Shawn Johnson and partner Derek Hough will be joined by Mark Ballas

RECAP: Because there was no elimination last week, tomorrow night’s Dancing With the Stars All Stars elimination results show will feature a double elimination. So the pressure is extra high on the couples tonight to really impress the voters and the judges! First up tonight, the couples will be performing a ballroom dance to music honoring the veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces for Veteran’s Day.
Shawn Johnson and Derek Hough – Viennese Waltz
Judges: Len says sometimes a whisper can be louder than a shout. This dance was quiet and gentle, but also louder than any music. He loved it. Bruno says it was heavenly perfection and Shawn was touched by an angel. It was fantastic, specially when she was in arabesque. Carrie Ann says Shawn started off as a powerful performer and now has depth. She could feel the emotion in the room.
Scores: Len – 9.5, Bruno – 10, Carrie Ann – 10 = 29.5 of 30
Apolo Anton Ohno and Karina Smirnoff – Tango
Judges: Len says Apolo is his hero and came out with passion. It was full on attack and it was great. Bruno says this was a devil of a Tango and Apolo’s guns were fully loaded for maximum fire power. He was Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible! Carrie Ann says she loved it, it was fantastic and his lines were terrific. She wants to be Karina and so does everyone else. A WOW for Apolo!

Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy – Viennese Waltz
Judges: Len says it was their best dance ever and hallelujah! Well done. Bruno says it was nice, stylish and well done. Carrie Ann loved the musical interpretation and the lines were perfect. Their best dance ever. She wants to see more difficulty next time but very well done.
Scores: Len – 9, Bruno – 9, Carrie Ann – 9 = 27 of 30
Kelly Monaco and Valentin Chmerkovskiy – Viennese Waltz
Judges: Len says he did not always enjoy the flow of it, the movement was a bit sharp. He says he has his standards and teases that Carrie Ann doesn’t have any. Bruno says Kelly is a twinkling twirler and had a fantastic shape during the dance. She gave it her soul. Carrie Ann says Kelly was committed to the movement of the dance. She really pushed herself to the edge and keeps growing every week. Carrie says it was a wow.
Scores: Len – 9, Bruno – 9.5, Carrie Ann – 9.5 = 28 of 30
Gilles Marini and Peta Murgatroyd – Quickstep
Judges: Len says this dance was full of thunder and lightning. Gilles had control and energy. This was really a Quickstep. Bruno says it was fast and efficient, a real Quickstep. The variation part in the middle was really fantastic–top gun! Carrie Ann says it was almost top gun, but there was a little wobbling in the details. But it was really good.

Emmitt Smith and Cheryl Burke – Viennese Waltz
Judges: Len says Emmitt puts the ooooo in smooth. He would like to see a little more fluidity in the movements, but it was great. Bruno says it was very classy and smart. There was a bit of a stumble but it was a very nice routine. Carrie Ann says it was smooth and Emmitt has great charisma, but there was a bit of a slip. She wants to see him push out of the comfort zone more.

Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani – Quickstep
Judges: Len says it was a quick Quickstep indeed. It was the bees’ knees. Bruno says he wants to join the Navy now. He felt like he was watching Anne Meara and Gene Kelly dancing. Fantastic! Carrie says Melissa is on fire and she has to give her a salute. Two weeks in a row they have been awesome. She loves it.

Now we move on to the Latin dance trio portion of the show.
Shawn Johnson and Derek Hough with Mark Ballas – Samba
Judges: Len says he would be cheering if he was in the audience tonight. However, he is judging a Samba and the dance did not have a lot of Samba content in it. If she goes home, Shawn should blame the boys. Bruno says he has jungle fever after watching that naughty threesome. It was fantastic art with an animalistic quality, but it was not a Samba. Carrie Ann says there was not a lot of Samba but sometimes you have to take risks. What Samba the routine did have was perfection.
Scores: Len – 7, Bruno – 9, Carrie Ann – 10 = 26 of 30
Total Scores (combined with last week): 93.5
Apolo Anton Ohno and Karina Smirnoff with Sasha Farber – Jive
Judges: Len says it was quick, fast and together. This is the kind of Jive you want. Bruno says it was very risky, but they conquered it. It was brilliant and like watching twins dancing. Apolo is on top of the game. Carrie Ann says she has never seen him shine brighter and it was one of his best performances.
Scores: Len – 9.5, Bruno – 9.5, Carrie Ann – 10 = 29 of 30
Total Scores (combined with last week): 91.5
Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Kirstie Alley with Tristan MacManus – Paso Doble
Judges: Len says the dance had aggression, but the routine lacked the proper finesse. Bruno says it was a very surreal interpretation and you have to scratch the surface of it. The dance could have been a more defined Paso Doble. Carrie Ann says she loves the choice of men, the theme, the costumes and the presentation. However, the routine was sloppy for a Paso Doble.
Scores: Len – 8, Bruno – 8, Carrie Ann – 8 = 24 of 30

Kelly Monaco and Valentin Chmerkovsky with Louis Van Amstel – Jive
Judges: Len says he really like the end part, it had the X factor and it was fantastic. Bruno says Kelly is quite the swinger. You can take one and then the other. (God, he is so sexual.) He loved it when she was leading. Well done. Carrie Ann says it is so hard to go back and forth and it had difficult transitions. She enjoyed it.
Scores: Len – 9.5, Bruno – 9.5, Carrie Ann – 9.5

Gilles Marini and Peta Murgatroyd with Chelsie Hightower – Salsa
Judges: Len says he can only judge it as he saw it. He did not hide behind the professionals and he went for it full on. Very well done. Bruno says menage au trois comes naturally to Gilles (again Bruno? geez). But his focus on taking care of the ladies made him lose timing a few times. Carrie Ann says she agrees with Bruno, but she loved how he came out and took control of the floor.

Emmitt Smith and Cheryl Burke with Kym Johnson – Salsa
Judges: Len says it was like watching two yoyos going at the same time. Clever, knockout choreography with this one. Bruno says the Salsa is a smooth and natural dance and that is exactly what they did. Carrie Ann says Emmitt was out of his comfort zone this time and in the red hot Salsa zone. This is the Emmitt everyone loves!
Scores: Len – 10, Bruno – 10, Carrie Ann – 10 = 30 of 30

Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani with Henry Byalikov – Paso Doble
Judges: Len says she moved seamlessly liek a Frisbee between the two guys. Of all of the contestants tonight, she impressed him the most. Bruno says queen bee Melissa was flamboyant and fabuluos. It was an astonishing Paso Doble and a thing of beauty. He thinks she needs to be in the finals. Carrie Ann says she agrees with everything the other judges said and Melissa totally owned that Paso Doble.
