There will be no romantic wedding dance for Karina Smirnoff and Maksim Chmerkovskiy. The Dancing with the Stars couple has reportedly broken their engagement and split up. Smirnoff and Chmerkovskiy became engaged in December and had planned on marrying next June.
“I am confirming that they did indeed break up,” a rep for Karina Smirnoff told EOnline.com. No further details were given regarding the separation.
The sudden split between Karina Smirnoff and Maksim Chmerkovskiy comes only a month after the couple debuted on Broadway in Burn the Floor. At the time, the couple said they would have to delay their wedding until next summer due to busy work schedules for the Broadway show and the new season of Dancing With the Stars.
Smirnoff and Chmerkovskiy hooked up last summer after Smirnoff split up with boyfriend Mario Lopez, whom she met when she was paired with him on Dancing With the Stars. Chmerkovskiy proposed to Smirnoff after only three months of dating, on New Year’s Eve.
