Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman Divorce Makes Us Sad

One of Hollywood’s most legendary couples, Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman, have announced they are planning to divorce after 30 years together. The former couple’s rep, Stan Rosenfield, confirmed the news of the split to Entertainment Tonight. That makes two of our favorite adorable Hollywood couples breaking up in just the past month. Hearing that comedic super duo Amy Poehler and Will Arnett were breaking up was depressing enough, but a Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman divorce after 30 years as a couple is just too sad to contemplate.

Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman met in 1970 after she saw him in a performance of The Shrinking Bride off Broadway. Perlman was immediately smitten with the actor in a real life case of love at first sight. The two moved reportedly moved in together only a few weeks later.

In January of 1982, Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman married during a lunch break from the hit television series Taxi. Devito, 67, and Perlman, 64, have three children together: Lucy, 29, Gracy, 27, and Jacob, 24. The couple’s rep did not announce a reason for their split.

Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman have been one of Hollywood’s most admired couples for 30 years both off-screen and on. The two have worked on many television and film projects together, including Taxi and Matilda. Jersey Films, the production company they founded together, has produced such hit films as Erin Brockovich, Pulp Fiction and Garden State.
