The Demi Moore 911 call will reportedly be edited to remove selected personal medical information about the star before it is released to the public, a spokesman for the Los Angeles City Attorney’s office said Thursday. Demi Moore was hospitalized on Monday after she allegedly went into convulsions at her home during a party.
Actress Demi Moore was reportedly hosting a birthday party at her home in Los Angeles near Benedict Canyon when she allegedly collapsed and began having seizure-like symptoms. According to TMZ.com, paramedics called to the scene were told the G. I. Jane star had been inhaling whippets or ‘whip-its’ (which contain nitrous oxide) before she starting having convulsions. Moore was treated at the scene and then transported by ambulance to Sherman Oaks Hospital.
A whippet, or ‘whip-it’, is a metal container filled with nitrous oxide under pressure that are commonly used in making whip cream and for other purposes. Nitrous oxide, commonly known as “laughing gas,” causes a euphoric state when inhaled and is frequently used for dental procedures. Whip-it abuse, however, can cause the user to pass out from lack of oxygen have seizures or even die.
The Demi Moore 911 call will eventually be made public, as most 911 calls generally are. However, the Los Angeles City Attorney’s office is recommending to the Los Angeles Fire Department that the Demi Moore 911 tape be heavily edited before being released to comply with federal medical privacy laws.
“We’ve reviewed the 911 tape and we have made recommendations,” Frank Mateljan, spokesman for the city attorney, said in a press statement. Personal information about Moore’s medical condition and medications will likely be redacted from the recording.
Following her release from the hospital, Moore has reportedly entered a rehab treatment program to deal with her issues. A representative for the actress said Tuesday in a press statement that Moore would be “seeking professional assistance to treat her exhaustion and improve her overall health.” Moore had been plagued with rumors of wild behavior in recent months since her break-up with husband Ashton Kutcher. Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher split up in November over allegations of cheating on his part and prescription drug abuse on hers.
Following her hospitalization, it was announced that Demi Moore has pulled out of her next film project as Gloria Steinem in the upcoming movie Lovelace.
