Pop icon Elton John says he wants Justin Tiberlake to play him in an upcoming film biopic. Elton John claims that Justin Timberlake is “#1 on my wish list” to represent him on film and the young star is reportedly considering taking on the role.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Elton John said he was very impressed with Justin Timberlake’s portrayel of him in his “This Train Don’t Stop There Anymore” video, calling it “superb.” After seeing the David LaChapelle directed video, John said Timberlake was at the top of his list to play him in an upcoming biopic.
“Justin is taking it very seriously,” an unidientified source told E!’s Ted Casablanca. “He’s working with his people to figure out exactly how to respond.” Casablanca says a “very official response will be coming from Camp Timberlake” about the possible movie role shorly.
Elton John said a film version of his life is already in the works with a script being written by Lee Hall of Billy Elliot. “It’s going to be a surreal look at my life, and not just a factual look at my life, more in the manner of a ‘Moulin Rouge!'” John told the Times.
“I just don’t want it to be a normal biopic because my life hasn’t been like that. And it only goes up to when I go into rehab in 1990. It starts with me going into rehab and ends when I come out.”
Honestly, we think Timberlake has done a fine job of playing Elton John in video, so we’re all for it. We’re just curious how much Timberlake would be on board with the whole gay angle. He’s been plagued by gay rumors forever, but never admitted to any leanings that way. On the other hand, he’s a strong advocate for the gay community. So playing Elton John and doing possible on-screen guy lip-locking could fuel more rumors, but he may just be comfortable enough with his identity not to give a damn.
