Alexis Cohen, a former American Idol contestant, was found dead on Saturday morning in Allentown, PA. Dubbed the “Glitter Girl” for her fairy dust makeup, Cohen auditioned twice for American Idol but was never given a golden ticket to Hollywood. Cohen was 25 years old.
Ocean County officials told MCall.com Cohen was found on Friday morning ying in the street by two pedestrians around 4 a.m. Cohen was then taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead about two hours later.
Alexis Cohen first auditioned for American Idol in January 2008, singing Jefferson Airplane’s “Somebody to Love”. Although some fans actually felt Cohen had a bit of talent, American Idol judges refused to pass her through to the Hollywood round. In response, Cohen launched into a fit of cursing and lewd gestures for the American Idol cameras. Cohen returned in 2009 for a second audition, but was once again denied the chance to move on in the competition.
Alexis Cohen’s temporary fame landedÂ her on a series of talk shows, including Live with Regis and Kelly, The View and Extra. Most recently, Brooklyn born Cohen was living in Germantown while studying acting at Montgomery County Community College, according to Syracuse.com.
* Update – Officials from the Ocean County Prosecutors Office have released a statement saying that it appears Alexis Cohen was struck and killed by a car, according to the Asbury Park Press.
