Newlywed Justin Timberlake has issued an apology for a video made by a friend in honor of his wedding to Jessica Biel. The tasteless Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel wedding video features homeless people offering up well wishes to the happy couple.
One of the homeless men in the Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake wedding video came forward after the video went viral claiming he was given $40 and tricked into reading scripted lines for the video.
“That makes me feel really bad,” the Los Angeles man identified as “Eddie” told TMZ.com. “That was a trick played on me.” Homeless advocates were outraged over the exploitation of those featured in the video. Some fans of Timberlake claimed they would no longer support the singer because of the video.
Justin Timberlake claims he had no involvement in making the rather horrifying wedding video and he is more than a little upset with the friend that created it.
“I had no knowledge of its existence” and “had absolutely ZERO contribution to it,” Timberlake wrote in a post to his web site. He noted that the Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake wedding video was not actually played at the event.
“I am deeply sorry to anyone who was offended by the video. Again, it was something that I was not made aware of,” wrote Timberlake. “But, I do understand the reaction and, by association, I am holding myself accountable.”
“You can bet your ass that I’m having my friend do at least 100 hours of community service… Boom,” the Trouble With the Curve said in his apology letter. “I don’t believe it was made to be insensitive,” he said. “[But] I think we can all agree that it was distasteful.”
Honestly, Justin Timberlake really does seem to be entirely mortified by the whole thing and his apology seems sincere. Fans of the singer/actor really shouldn’t be blaming him for the idiotic actions of his friends.
