Hugh Jackman Signs On to Steven Spielberg Sci-Fi Film

Australian hottie Hugh Jackman has reportedly signed on to star in a new sci-fi movie helmed by the legendary Steven Spielberg. According to media reports, Jackman will star as a former boxer who becomes a trainer for the robot boxers who have replaced humans in the ring.

Let’s just say right now, that sounds super weird and just a little bit crazy as a movie set to feature a star like Jackman. The film, reportedly called Real Steel, will be the first project produced by Steven Spielberg since DreamWorks Studios split from Paramount Pictures last year.

Filmmaker Shawn Levy, who will be directing the film, told Variety the movie is about “a former boxer who can no longer do the only job he’s good at, and one particular robot that may be his return to grace.”

Filming for Real Steel is scheduled to being in June. Let’s hope the movie actually isn’t going to be as incredibly lame as the premise sounds.
