Jackass star Ryan Dunn died early Monday morning in a fiery car crash after a night out partying with friends at a bar. According to police, it appears Ryan Dunn may have been speeding when his car went off the road and crashed around 2:30am near West Goshen, Pennsylvania.
Ryan Dunn’s 2007 Porsche 911 GT3 was “fully engulfed in flames” when police arrived on the location of the crash. Both Dunn and a male passenger were dead at the scene. Dunn’s body was reportedly so badly burned that he was only able to be indentified by his tattoos. The passenger in the car has still not been identified.
According to TMZ.com, Ryan Dunn had spent around four hours at a bar partying with friends before leaving to drive home. According to witnesses, Dunn allegedly “had a lot to drink” while he was at the bar. Police have not said whether they suspect alcohol might have been a factor in the crash, but do believe he may have been traveling at a high.
Shortly before his death, Ryan Dunn tweeted a photo of himself hanging out with his friends at the bar and drinking a beer. The photo has since been removed from his Twitter feed.
Jackass co-star Johnny Knoxville posted a message on his Twitter feed saying: “Today I lost my brother Ryan Dunn. RIP Ryan, I love you buddy.” Dunn starred in the Jackass MTV series and in all three Jackass movies. Jason ‘Wee Man’ Acuna also Tweeted his grief over losing Dunn, saying: “I MISS YOU BUD!! You were always a happy kick-ass dude!!â€
“We are devastated by the tragic loss of Ryan Dunn – a beloved member of the MTV family for more than a decade,†MTV president Van Toffler said. “He made us all laugh and had the tireless enthusiastic approach to life of your favourite middle school friend. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Ryan’s family and friends.â€
Not everyone was so kind with their responses to Ryan Dunn’s death, however. Movie critic Roger Ebert rather rudely Tweeted to his followers: “Friends don’t let jackasses drink and drive.”
