It’s about time this happened – after fantastic musical performances in Crazy Heart in 2009, EMI has finally given actor Jeff Bridges a much-deserved recording contract, and he’s going to release an album of songs later this year.  According to the EMI press release, the album will not only contain cover songs, but will also feature a few of Jeff’s original compositions.

Among the covers, Jeff is expected to be recording songs by Tom Waits, John Goodwin, Greg Brown, and Bo Ramsey.  The album is slated for a late summer release, though obviously we’ll get some songs leaked to the internet well before then and Jeff will be doing promotional performances here and there.
