The current cast of MTV’s Jersey Shore reality show may be standing in the unemployment line unless they agree to the terms of a new contract deal from the network. The Jersey Shore cast could be fired by MTV if they aren’t willing to take what the network is offering – far less than what they reportedly want.
The eight cast members of MTV’s Jersey Shore reportedly rejected an offer of $5,000 an episode and a $10,000 signing bonus for the second season of the show. MTV is allegedly not pleased with the group decision to play the network for more money. The network has reportedly upped their offer to $10,000 an episode, but that’s as far as they are willing to go.
According to TMZ.com, MTV is telling the Jersey Shore cast if they don’t agree to the new deal, they’ll be replaced with new cast members. MTV reportedly has mega-loads of audition tapes from hopeful Jersey Shore lovers wanting to appear on the show. So far, the Jersey Shore cast has reportedly not responded to the new offer.
The season finale of Jersey Shore, starring such questionable characters as Snooki, Pauly D and The Situation, drew almost 4 million viewers. The down and dirty reality show is a huge hit for the network, which probably prompted the cast members in their attempt to play hardball with MTV over money.
MTV has reportedly stated that any cast member who decides to accept the deal can stay, but they are ready to bring in replacements for anyone who doesn’t take the deal. We’re thinking the Jersey Shore cast should probably take the offer. It’s not like most of them are going to have anyone else willing to pay them to act like assholes for a living.
