John Edwards Will Admit to Fathering Rielle Hunter’s Baby

Former presidential candidate John Edwards is reportedly ready to admit he is the father of ex-lover Rielle Hunter‘s baby. Edwards previously copped to cheating on wife Elizabeth Edwards, but declared he could not be the father of Rielle Hunter’s child due to the “timing” of the affair.

Former Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards denied the affair with Rielle Hunter at first, but was forced to come clean after the National Enquirer continued to pursue the story relentlessly, eventually tracking down John Edwards visiting Rielle Hunter in a Beverly Hills hotel last summer. However, he has repeatedly denied being the father of Rielle Hunter’s 18-month-old baby, saying the affair ended before the baby was conceived.

Edwards’ campaign aide Andrew Young claimed to be the child’s father, but has allegedly backed down from the paternity story and is penning a memoir that names Edwards as the real baby daddy. The child’s birth certificate does not list a father. The National Enquirer claims Edwards took a DNA test which conclusively proved he is the father of Rielle Hunter’s child.

If John Edwards does finally admit to fathering Rielle Hunter’s daughter, it is likely only because he is facing possible criminal charges over the affair. A grand jury is currently investigating whether Edwards and his staff may have improperly used campaign funds and possibly even paid Hunter to keep quiet about the affair and the baby with campaign money.

* Update: According to BostonHerald.com, John Edwards’ attorney Wade Smith has stated the former presidential candidate currently has no plans to release a statement regarding the paternity of Rielle Hunter’s baby. “No statement is planned,” Smith said, according to BostonHerald.com. “We have no sort of schedule or timetable.”

Interesting that Edwards’ attorney neither confirms or denies the source information saying Edwards is the father, nor does he say that a statement will not be forthcoming at all. Simply that there is no “sort of schedule” for making one…

  1. Having been born without a father Tell John Edwards to own up and help his daughter to learn about him. I met my father when I was 32 years old. I was alot like him. I had no ill will towards him. Things happen and I am glad that I am alive. God does not allow mistakes.

  2. I was for John Edwards originally and stood on the corner in Westwood, L.A. for approximately four hours holding signs and yelling to passengers in cars to vote for him. He disappointed me and many other people. He is a very handsome man with a lot of charisma so I can see the temptation. I feel really bad for Elizabeth Edwards and their family. John Edwards was blessed with great talent. Too bad he lost a great career over the temptation of a woman.

  3. What is it with politicians? It seems to me that they can’t be working too hard…they must have their staff do all the work as they have so much time and energy to be doing so much bed hopping. Here I had though they would be hard at work to best serve the people who elected them.

  4. To be totally honest, there are no winners in this situation. I feel terrible for everyone involved. That beautiful baby is as innocent as can be but she, unfortunately, will bear the brunt of her parents mistakes.

  5. Why is everyone surprised when a politician hopes into bed with a pretty young girl. There are no different than 100 million other American men. We are run by our hormones until they stop making hormones when we reach about 60 years old.
It is God’s design that we spread our seed. It is what makes the strong survive and the weak perish.

  6. We are run by hormomes, True, but we are not animals that have no control over our sexual emotions. If God intended us to spread our seed everywhere with everyone, He would not have made it so clear that when you marry that the two shall become one and to leave and cleave with your mate. I suggest, before you attempt to quote what God’s design is, do your homework and read the manual of Intructions (The Bible)of what God has to say.

  7. Ok Lee spread your seed….really? Is that what you call it? I think we should support crop dusting -for that type of mentality will surely only raise poor crop. What about self control, self respect, integrity, and honesty. The biggest shame is in the coming clean only when forced by a court. The word liar should carry the shame it use to. My sympathy to the child who will grow up and read how that the man whose sperm (can’t call him a Father) fertilized her mother’s egg could only think of himself. He showed no concern for his wife, his children or the baby he brought into this world. In my book that makes him a low life, certainly not worthy of the title of Father – never mind President.

  8. We all really don’t care if Johnny is the father of Rielle Hunter’s child or not. What we all really want to know is DID RIELLE HAVE AN ORGASM!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. Yeah people make mistakes but children are never a mistake. Everyone makes a big deal out of him having an affair , I mean does anyone even remember our lovley President Clinton so if he can remain president and cheat then why is everyone making a big deal about John cheating and having a kid…..

  10. He should have rushed out and got a divorce like Brad Pitt did; then he could have had his cake and ate it to. I say, when a woman just doesn’t satisfy you anymore, it’s time to kick her to the curb and get you a newer model. At least Pitt had the balls to admit that, life is too short not to get what you want.

  11. Edwards,Kennedy,Eisenhower,Jefferson. The list is endless. I guess politician/adulterer is a dual descriptive word for “our” representatives in Washington. The problem is there are no more God (the God of Israel) fearing statesmen anymore. I am sick of their lying and immoralities.

  12. Adultery has been around as long as the beginning of mankind. The bible is full of human nature stories about adultery and polygamy.

Remember David, the king of Israel, who had an affair with Bethseba. Or how about when Abraham had a child by his maid Hagar?

Although, God does not like adultery, he does understand our human nature. Thankfully, God does not treat us the same way society treats us, when the truth comes out.

  13. That girl is nothing but a b—h. Anyone that would sleep with a man who knew his wife had cancer is one. She had this all planned out in advance. I know she did. She ruined not only his life, his wifes life but his kids life and she has runined her own child’s life because I pray that she gets paid back when Edwards refuses to have anything to do with her. The best payback for her is to totally ignore her and that kid.

  14. I would have slept with John Edwards. I find him attractive, and wonder if he has a big, juicy, hairy package down there 🙂 I would also have gotten knocked up by him, too…..Why not?? He has $$$$$!!!!!!

  15. I feel so sorry for Elizabeth Edwards. She has enough to deal with because of her illness. Now, add to the mix her husband’s lies, infidelity and the child. In the previous comments, Lee and Steven seem to be of the same ilk as so many cheating, lying, gonad ruled, less than desirable men. Women beware. Forwarned is forarmed.

  16. Sounds like my ex — if a woman does not satisfy you anymore – kick her out. His name was Steve. also. How crude. One thing for sure the one he replaced me with has already left him for someone else — and eventually came running back to him. I’ve got a wonderful husband and much more than I had with him.

  17. This is what Americans feed into. How about we, as Americans, actually request real news. A mans personal life does not depict how he operates as a politcian. Sure being a politcian means your life is exposed, but give them a break… They are people, and everyone makes mistakes. This makes me think of Clinton, great president. I give him all the respect for getting a bj under the white house desk. GET OVER IT

  18. For the sake of all involved, John Edwards needs to come clean regarding this chapter of his life. While this is no doubt a very painful time for all parties, honesty is always the best policy and that may be even more true when one is caught red-handed.

For those of you who are so quick to criticize, compassion and empathy are also qualities the ‘good book’ tells us we should develop.

To all of John’s family, I wish you peaceful times ahead.

  19. HIS WIFE HAD CANCER…AND HE CHEATED ANY WAY!!!!!! HE’S AN EGOTISTICAL SCUM BAG. WHAT ABOUT HIS OTHER CHILDREN AND THE EFFECT THIS IS HAVING ON THEM. ISN’T THE REALIZATION THAT THEIR MOTHER IS SICK FRIGHTENING ENOUGH FOR THEM? DIDN’T HIS WIFE SUFFER ENOUGH WITH THE DEATH OF THEIR SON, THE WORRY THAT SHE WILL PROBABLY DIE BEFORE THE KIDS ARE GROWN. HE IS UTTERLY SELF CENTERED AND THAT WOMEN A HEARTLESS WITCH. BABIES COME FROM CHOICES PEOPLE MAKE. THE CHOICE IS OFTEN A MISTAKE…AND LET’S FACE IT FELLOWS.. THE THING THAT CAUSES BABIES IS NOT ON THE END OF YOUR NOSE..THERE IS PLENTY OF TIME TO FOR SELF CONTROL

  20. hello people all the people in politicians have to keep a clean record, but we all know everyone makes a mistake it just so happened he got caught. we have all been down the same road in one sense of error. But if your trying to run for president you can’t do that stuff before you get into office hello. well everyone seems to be doing it after office. what a joke. never a chance it looks like for this guy. stop before you started.

  21. The issue isn’t that he made a mistake, had an affair or had a child out of wed lock. The issue is that the woman that he married was supporting his candidacy and was suddenly handed a death sentence. His children had their lives in a spot light and were dealing with this calamity in the national spot light. John callously, thinking of only of a moment of pleasure (and I’m sure with him it was only a moment) cavalierly tossed them ALL to the curb. He compounds theses errors with making sure that the new child will always know he publicly denounced her. That the only way he “did the right thing” was by court order. The word scumbag hardly begins to cover it or any of you ‘gentleman’ that could defend such a disgusting excuse for a male. Reflections in a mirror.
