Jon Bon Jovi dead! That was the rumor going around last night all over the Net, but we are quite pleased to tell you that the Jon Bon Jovi is not dead. Rumors of the star’s demise was all just another one of those silly celebrity death hoaxes, once again proving you should really not believe everything you read on Twitter.

A WordPress blog titled dailynewbloginternational appears to have been the source of the Jon Bon Jovi death rumor. The blog posted a so-called press release on Monday claiming that Jon Bon Jovi had died at the age of 49 after “paramedics found him in a coma at his Empress hotel.” A link to this post spread all over Twitter and yet another celebrity death hoax was born.

We should note that this ‘source’ blog — which we are not linking to here – has some likely virus-filled links to a bunch of junky crap on it. Which pretty much means these folks were just trying to get you to click through to their site and do something nefarious with you once you got there.

On hearing of his rumored death, Jon Bon Jovi’s crew posted on his Facebook page that fans should “rest assured that Jon is alive and well.” A photo featuring Bon Jovi standing in front of a Christmas tree with a placard reading: “Heaven looks a lot like New Jersey. Dec. 19th, 2011, 6:00” was posted with the message.

On stage at a concert Monday night in New Jersey, Bon Jovi joked with fans over the celebrity death hoax. According to the Star-Ledger, the rocker pantomimed receiving phone calls from worried friends making sure he hadn’t kicked the bucket and noted, Mark Twain style, that the rumors of his death had been greatly exaggerated.
