NASCAR driver Kasey Kahne is scrambling to make apologies after he Tweeted several derogatory comments in response to seeing a woman breastfeeding in a grocery store. Apparently the nasty Kasey Kahne breastfeeding Tweets didn’t go over so well with some of his fans — especially the one he called a “dumb bitch.”

Kasey Kahne went on a rant via his Twitter feed on Tuesday about seeing a woman breastfeeding in a supermarket. “Just walking though supermarket,” he tweeted. “See a mom breast feeding little kid. Took second look because obviously I was seeing things. I wasn’t!”

Apparently Kahne was so disturbed by the breastfeeding woman that he just couldn’t stop Tweeting about it with increasing nastiness. “One boob put away one boob hanging!!” he tweeted, adding the hashtag #nasty to express his disgust. “I don’t feel like shopping or eating anymore,” he continued.

Many of Kasey Kahne’s Twitter followers, which number around 100,000, were not pleased with the NASCAR driver’s comments. “I hope someday you have a kid and someone tells your wife that feeding your child looks nasty,” one follower Tweeted back to Kahne. “Stay classy a**hole.” His response? “And your (sic) dumb bitch.”

As the outrage over the Kasey Kahne breastfeeding Tweets grew, the NASCAR driver deleted several of the comments. After the whole debacle went national in the press, Kahne finally issued an apology for his anti-breastfeeding tirade on his Facebook page.

“I understand that my comments regarding breastfeeding posted on Twitter were offensive to some people. For that, I apologize,” Kahne said. “It was in no way my intention to offend any mother who chooses to breastfeed her child, or, for that matter, anyone who supports breast feeding children. I want to make that clear.”

“In all honestly, I was surprised by what I saw in a grocery store,” Kahne said. “I shared that reaction with my fans on Twitter. It obviously wasn’t the correct approach, and, after reading your feedback, I now have a better understanding of why my posts upset some of you.”

“My comments were not directed at the mother’s right to breastfeed. They were just a reaction to the location of that choice, and the fashion in which it was executed on that occasion. I respect the mother’s right to feed her child whenever and wherever she pleases. ”

Kahne also apologized on Twitter directly to the woman he called a “dumb bitch.” On his feed, Kahne posted: ”@KnittingRad  I wanted to apologize for saying what I said to you yesterday. It was out of line. If you want to talk more please DM me.”

Kahne’s NASCAR sponsor Great Clips, has also released a statement apologizing for the Kasey Kahne breastfeeding Tweets. “Our apologies for this. Please know that response was uncalled for & does not reflect our organization.”
