Madonna calls M.I.A. Super Bowl flip-Off a teenager thing to do

Madonna is not happy about British hip-hop star M.I.A. launching an obscene gesture to the cameras during the Material Girl’s lavish Super Bowl halftime show. While performing as part of the Madonna Super Bowl halftime shoe, M.I.A. flipped off the cameras in a middle finger salute while mouthing obscenties.

“I didn’t know about it until I left. I was really surprised. I didn’t know anything about it,” Madonna said in a call-in interview with Ryan Seacrest‘s KIIS-FM radio show on Friday.

“I wasn’t happy about it. I understand it’s punk rock and everything, but to me there was such a feeling of love and good energy, and positivity it seemed negative,” Madonna told Seacrest.

The E! News host seemed to agree with Madonna’s assesment of the M.I.A. flip-off, calling it a “sneaky move.”

“It’s one of the those things, it’s such a teenager, irrelevant thing to do,” Madonna said. “There was such a feeling of love and unity there what was the point? It was just out of place.”

Ouch. It just has to hurt to be a grown woman with a child and be called out for acting like a brainless teenager by the Material Girl herself.

While I still think the whole Madonna Super Bowl halftime show was a bit overblown and wacky all the way around, on this point I agree entirely with Madonna. Even if you weren’t a big fan of the whole production, it was whole lot of fun and positive energy going on and the M.I.A. middle finger flip-off was totally uncalled for and not at all in vibe with the rest of the show.
