Willie Maxine Perry, the mother of movie star and producer Tyler Perry died on Tuesday after a long illness. The announcement of her death was posted on Perry’s blog. Perry credited his mother as the inspiration of the character of his most famous character, Madea.

“Willie Maxine Perry. February 12, 1945 to December 8, 2009. Thank you for all your prayers,” a message posted on Perry’s website said Tuesday.

There is one thing that is sure. Mama Willie Maxine Perry is in our future. To be absent from the body is to present with the Lord. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.
