Charla Nash, who was viciously mauled by a 200-pound pet chimpanzee, appeared on Oprah this week and bravely revealed her ruined face on air. Nash was trying to help a friend get the chimpanzee back inside her house when it attacked her and ravaged her face.
Charla Nash was left blind and lost both hands as a result of the attack. Her face was mauled beyond recognition and she is only able to eat meals through a straw. 56-year-old Nash told Oprah Winfrey she doesn’t touch her face because she doesn’t want to know how bad it is. “I don’t ask a whole lot about my injuries,” Nash said.
Even with the loss of her face and hands, Nash still had an amazing attitude during her appearance on Oprah. “I’m the same person I’ve always been,” she said. “I just look different. There are things that happen to you in life that you can’t change.”
Nash now wears a veil in public so her appearance will not frighten others. Check out video from the interview below, but beware, the injuries to Charla Nash are horrific and may be very disturbing.
