Rapper Wyclef Jean Urges Aid for Haiti Earthquake Victims
Rap star Wyclef Jean is pleading with fans to donate aid for the victims of Tuesday’s massive Haitian earthquake. Wyclef Jean, who was born in Haiti, urged fans via his Twitter account to contribute what they can to the relief efforts for Haiti earthquake victims.
“Your money will help with relief efforts,” the former Fugees star wrote on his Twitter feed. “They need our help – please help if you can.
Thousands are feared dead in the massive 7.0 magnitude quake that struck Haiti on Tuesday, destroying much of the capital city of Port-au-Prince. The International Red Cross estimates up to 3 million people have been affected by the severe earthquake.
Wyclef Jean was named as a roving ambassador for Haiti in 2007 and provides aid to the country through his Yele Haiti Foundation. On his website, Jean called the Haitian earthquake “a natural disaster of unprecedented proportion… unlike anything the country has ever experienced.”
“I cannot stress enough what a human disaster this is, and idle hands will only make this tragedy worse,” Jean said.

I live in eastern Jamaica and felt a minor effect of the earthquake. I think its a shame that so many people had to live in Port Au prince, mainly because they could not make a living off of agriculture mainly because of US and Euro food subsidies. I hope they find thier souls after this terrible event
