A 19-year-old man was killed and two others left injured after a personal dispute turned deadly during a Castro District “Pink Saturday” street party to kick of Gay Pride Weekend in San Francisco.

Shots rang out in the Castro District around 11:30 PM, panicking revelers out celebrating a kickoff street party for San Francisco Gay Pride. Police believe the Castro shootings were the result of a personal dispute and not related to the Gay Pride event.

“This was definitely not a hate crime,” Officer Phil Gordan told the San Francisco Chronicle. “We think they [the shooter and the victim] knew each other.”

Stephen Powell died early Sunday after being shot in the chest during the incident. A 19-year-old woman and a 29-year old man were both shot in the legs, but are expected to survive. An unidentified 19-year-old man suspected of being the shooter was arrested and is currently being held in custody.
