Rapper Snoop Dog was arrested this weekend in Texas on drug charges after police found marijuana on his tour bus during a border patrol inspection. Snoop Dog has a medical marijuana prescription in California, but authorities say that doesn’t mean squat in the borders of the Lone Star State.
Police officials report that Snoop Dog’s tour bus was inspected at a border crossing in Sierra Blanca, Texas, according to TMZ.com. Officers allegedly went over the tour bus with a drug-sniffing dog and uncovered several joints inside a prescription bottle.
Snoop Dog has a prescription for medical marijuana in California, but Texas does not recognize such things. In Texas, if you have weed, you’re a criminal and that’s all there is to it.
According to police, Snoop Dog copped to being the owner of the pot and was arrested. After being booked for misdemeanor drug possession, Snoop Dog was released pending a future court date. If convicted on the charge, the rapper could end up spending up to 180 days in prison.
