Steve Landesberg dies of cancer

It’s always sad when a beloved actor dies, but even more sad when nobody seems to remember why he was beloved in the first place. Â Actor Steve Landesberg, who had a long and lucrative career in both television and film, passed away earlier in the week after a long battle with cancer.
A lot of online obituaries are trying to jog people’s memories of Landesberg by referring to him as “the guy who played the pediatrician in Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” but few seem to be keen to point out that he was best known for his role as Detective Dietrich on long-running show Barney Miller. Barney Miller was a great show (at least for its time), and even those who are too young to remember the original are certainly familiar with it through syndicated re-runs. Â Rest in peace, Steve.
