Actor Alec Baldwin and comedian Steve Martin have been tapped to co-host the 82nd Academy Awards ceremony. The comedic duo will share hosting duties at the Oscars, scheduled to air on March 7, 2010.
Steve Martin has previously hosted the Oscars twice before, in 2001 and 2003, but this will be the first time 30 Rock star Alec Baldwin will have the honor. Producers Bill Mechanic and Adam Shankman said in a press statement the two are “the perfect pair of hosts for the Oscars.”
Steve Martin said, in typical Martin-style humor, that he is “happy to co-host the Oscars with my enemy Alec Baldwin.” Martin most recently appeared at the Oscars as a presenter earlier this year, handing out an award alongside 30 Rock star Tina Fey.
Alec Baldwin, who currently stars on the hit NBC comedy 30 Rock, said hosting the Academy Awards was the “opportunity of a lifetime.” Baldwin was nominated for an Oscar in 2003 for best supporting actor for his role in The Cooler.
