The Help needed no assistance at last night’s 2012 SAG Awards to come out on top. The film adaption of Kathyrn Stockett‘s novel of the same name landed the SAG Awards 2012 winners prize of Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, as well as honors for film stars Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer.
“I just have to say that the stain of racism and sexism is not just for people of color or women. It’s all of our burden, all of us,” Davis said, accepting the ensemble prize on behalf of her “The Help” co-stars.
The 2012 SAG Awards will be a strong boost for The Help going into the Academy Awards next month, where it will go up against The Artist, The Descendants, Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, Hugo, Midnight in Paris, Moneyball, The Tree of Life and War Horse for Best Picture.
