Susan Boyle Number One Album in U.S. Charts

Britain’s Got Talent star and YouTube darling Susan Boyle flew to the top of the U.S. charts with the release of her debut album, I Dreamed a Dream. The album was the best U.S. opening from a female artist since Nielsen began tracking sales in 1991.

Susan Boyle also topped the British album sales charts earlier this week. Boyle’s album sold a record-setting 701,000 copies sold, even beating out American Idol alumni Adam Lambert‘s debut album, which came in at number three. Andrea Bocelli‘s My Christmas took the number two spot.

I Dreamed a Dream slugged out Eminem‘s previous record sales this year for Relapse, making it the biggest debut album of 2009 by far.

In a week that featured new albums by Lambert, Rihanna and Lady Gaga, pulling the number one spot is quite a coup for Susan Boyle.

Adam Lambert AMA Performance Spurs Complaints and Outrage

Glam rocker Adam Lambert‘s outrageous performance at the American Music Awards prompted over 1500 complaints from viewers to ABC. The network called the complaints a “moderate” response to the sexually charged stage routine. The Parents Television Council, which recently blasted Gossip Girl over their “threesome” episode, loudly denounced Lambert’s antics on stage.

Timothy Winters, president of the PTC, said members of the organization are “outraged” over the show. “They just can’t believe the nature of the content, the explicit nature, and how much graphic content there was.”

Adam Lambert at the AMAs was a whirlwind of sexual suggestiveness and BDSM imagery. Even hardcore fans of Lambert are torn in their response to the performance, which included Lambert leading two dancers on leashes, simulating oral sex on stage and French-kissing a male keyboardist.

Lambert said after the performance, “I had fun, my dancers had fun, the audience that was in the Nokia had fun. Anybody else who was watching it and enjoying it, thank you for being entertained.”

The American Idol runner-up said in an interview before the American Music Awards that he wanted to push the envelope in his performance. “We’ve seen female pop and rock performers do that for the last 10 years,” Lambert said. “They’ve been very provocative, owning their power and sexuality. You just don’t see men doing it very often. And I’m hoping to break down that double standard with this number.”

Adam Lambert AMA Performance Shocks and Thrills

American Idol chains be gone! Adam Lambert may not have won the American Idol crown, but his performance at the American Music Awards on Sunday showed exactly what that’s a good thing!

We’re doubting that ultra-strict contract forced on AI winners would have allowed anything like the extreme sexuality and BDSM insanity of Adam Lambert on the AMAs Sunday night. The boy shoved a dancer’s head in his crotch! Aggresively french kissed his male keyboard player! Oh, and let’s not forget Lambert leading people around on leashes!

Adam Lambert on the VMAs was a sight to behold, both extravegently shocking and entirely entertaining. We also have to laugh out loud considering juts last week, the editor of Out magazine was bashing Lambert for not being gay enough. Well eat that, Mr. Out editor!

Naturally, there are plenty of folks out there who took offense to Adam Lambert and his overt sexuality on stage. Actually, we do have to agree that it might have been a wee bit out there, especially for a show watched by a hell of a lot of teenies. On the other hand, is there really all the big a difference between Lambert’s psuedo-sex on stage and Janet Jackson’s crotch-grabbing? The West Coast broadcast of the AMAs actually cut out the simulated oral sex, though they did keep the same-sex kiss.

While Lambert’s vocal performance did suffer due to all the antics going on, it’s hard to deny his appearance on stage at the AMAs was a show-stopper. If you haven’t seen it yet, check it out, it’s definately worth a viewing… or two… or three…

J Lo Falls at AMAs and Adam Lambert Takes a Tumble Too

Jennifer Lopez took a fall on stage at the American Music Awards on Sunday, but the minor mishap didn’t keep her from giving a smoking performance. The booty-shaking diva kept things hot and grooving, despite her momentary two left feet.

J Lo took off for a bit jump in the midst of her performance of “Louboutins” during the AMAs, but landed on her butt instead of her feet. The well-padded Lopez didn’t let the slip-up keep her down. She was quickly back on her feet and moving to the beat.

Jennifer Lopez wasn’t the only celeb to take a fall on the AMA stage. Adam Lambert also had a harsh encounter with the floor during his performance of his new single “For Your Entertainment”. Lambert also recovered in a heartbeat, rolling into his next move with not a hair out of place. His instant twist into the next bit left many wondering if he’d even slipped at all! (A bit of slow-mo on the TiVo does reveal a bit of a stumble and hard landing before the nifty roll up.)

Adam Lambert Breaks Up With Boyfriend Drake LaBry

Glam rocker Adam Lambert is back on the market again after breaking up with boyfriend Drake LaBry. Lambert came out officially in the June issue of Rolling Stone.

“I don’t think it should be a surprise for anyone to hear that I’m gay,” American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert told Rolling Stone in June. Shortly after Lambert came out, his relationship with interior designer Drake LaBry also went public, with the two infamously smooching for tabloid photogs.

The couple reportedly decided to call it quits partially due to Lambert’s need to focus on the release of his new album, For Your Entertainment.

“They will still talk and see each other,” an insider reportedly told “They both felt this moment is too important for Adam to focus on anything else but getting this album out and having it be a huge hit.”

Adam Lambert New Single ‘For Your Entertainment’ Debuts Online

Glam rocker Adam Lambert released his new single “For Your Entertainment” online Friday, streaming the song live from his web site just in time for Halloween.

The American Idol runner-up said in an interview on KIIS-FM the new single is “dance music with a glam-rock shuffle beat, in the style of T. Rex and Rock & Roll Part 2.” Yeah, um, what he said. Honestly, we prefer the amazing ballad he did for 2012, but any new Glambert song is a cause for celebration.

“For Your Entertainment” is a fun mix, showing off Lambert’s naughtier side and his screamingly awesome vocal range as usual. The chorus features the lines: “Can you handle what I’m about to do/It’s about to get rough for you/Because I’m here for your entertainment.” We can handle it Glambert, we can!

Lambert told fans on Twitter prior to the new single’s debut: “Get ready to shake yo asses to this song. it’ll make ya dance for sure.” On Friday, he added, “Hope you’re gonna wanna blast it while you’re gettin ready for Halloween!! Then at the club!!”

Speaking of other American Idol alumni… What was that guy’s name that won American Idol this past season? Oh yeah, we don’t care, nevermind.

Wow! What An Idol Finale…Kris Allen Wins!

Last night’s finale of American Idol Season 8 was a nail-biter…even DialIdol, which has predicted every winner since inception, said it was too close to call. The show was packed with stars performing with many of this year’s contestants, and was one of the best I’ve ever seen. Kudos to the producers for a highly entertaining 2 hours. As Kris Allen’s mom said during the show, “I’m not nervous because this is a great show.” Kris’ dad put it best: “These are two incredibly talented, humble young men.” Kris Allen, the dark horse, pulled out the win over media (and Snarkista’s) fave Adam Lambert.

Gawker has a deliciously cheesy montage from last night!

Both guys are so gifted in such different ways, and both deserved to be up there competing in the final. Adam is a riveting performer with vocal chops that are unrivaled. Kris is a super-versatile musician, a great arranger, and is no slouch in the vocal department either. Adam and Kris will both have fantastic careers, no doubt.

Their duo on last night’s show, “We Are The Champions”, finally gave us the Queen song we’ve been waiting for all season. Snarkista’s dying to hear Adam do “Somebody To Love”, but she’ll have to hope it makes it into the tour repertoire. Speaking of the Idol tour this year…it should be one of the best ever. This year’s contest featured some of the best talent the show has seen, and when they take the show on the road everyone’s in for a real treat.

Congratulations to Kris Allen!! Congrats to Adam Lambert too…what a breath of fresh air for fans he is. As for “bikini girl” Katrina Darnell– your new implants look great, but you still can’t sing. Kara DioGuardi blew you out of the water with her surprise “Vision of Love” which thankfully drowned you out- and her own bikini-flash (for charity) outclassed you by a mile. But you did look great.
