DeAndre Brackensick, the latest contestant to be voted off American Idol 2012, says he thinks he got enough chances to shine on the show and didn’t need to be saved again. After Brackensick was ranked last by voters, American Idol judges Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler refused to use their ‘save’ to keep him on the show, although judge Jennifer Lopez did give the young singer her vote.
In a phone press conference on Friday, DeAndre Brackensick said he loved how much support he received from the American Idol 2012 judges, even though they did not come together on elimination night to give him another chance.
On American Idol 2012 last night, the judges seemed pleased overall with the contestant’s performances, but who really wowed the voters enough to make it to the American Idol top 7? On a night when most everyone gave a good performance, the ones who did not unfortunately stood out in a bad way. After last night’s performances, it seems rather obvious who should be in the bottom two, but making the call on who will actually go home in our American Idol predictions for elimination night is a little bit more difficult.
I won’t go into rehashing each of the performances here, as you can read through the American Idol recaps from last night here (part one) and here (part two). Suffice it to say that in general, the performances last night were quite good. In the case of fan favorite Jessica Sanchez, Joshua Ledet and (surprisingly) Skylar Laine, I would say they were even great.

Tonight on American Idol 2012, viewers will watch both a solo and a duet performance from each of the top 8 contestants. This week on American Idol season 11 is all about the 80’s. I can’t wait to see how the contestants will make out on American Idol tonight after seeing this song list. I’m already thinking there are a few really awesome moments in the making — and a few total FAIL moments as well. No matter who sings what tonight, however, I’m still holding fast with my American Idol prediction that this week it will be DeAndre Brackensick or Hollie Cavanagh who go home.
On American Idol last night, the judges gave out five standing ovations, but who really wowed the voters enought to make it to the top 8? On one of the best ratings nights of the American Idol 2012 seasion, it’s going to be a bit of a tough call to figure out which contestant will be facing elimination tonight.
Right now, Colton Dixon is my personal favorite performer on American Idol season 11. His punk rock style with the soft, soaring voice is just a match made in heaven. Literally, the boy credits his talent straight to God and we’re not going to argue with him. He’s also an obviously skilled and talented musician as well as singer, which I always strongly appreciate.
American Idol Gives Back week may have all about inspiration and the spirit of giving, but contestant Tim Urban failed to inspire and was given no charity at elimination time Wednesday night. The American Idol contestant much of America loved to hate, the VotefortheWorst.com poster boy, Tim Urban, has finally left the building.
Tim Urban leaves 'American Idol' (FOX)
Now that Tim Urban has finally gotten the boot from American Idol, we’re actually feeling a bit lousy about it. We’ve bashed Urban all season and cowered in mock horror when he took the stage. We never felt he had a good enough voice or the ‘it’ factor to be a success in the music business. Or shouldn’t anyway – this is American after all, where people like Miley Cyrus are famous and rich despite an endless lack of any real talent.
On the other hand, Tim Urban is just a 20-year-old guy who has a dream to be a singer. All season long, he’s had to endure people like us telling him how much he sucks. The judges have crushed him on a weekly basis and knowing you’re the lead contender of the VotefortheWorst.com crowd has to be kind of soul-crushing.
Most of us out there have had our dreams crumpled into little wads of nothingness at some point or another. It’s not a nice feeling to be told the one thing we really want and love to do is something we aren’t necessarily very good at.
So even though we think Tim Urban deserved to be voted off long ago, we still can’t help but feel bad for the guy. Go forth young man and enjoy knowing that you do have quite a few genuine – and vocal – fans out there.
And if the music thing doesn’t work out for you, might we suggest, perhaps, modeling? We may think your vocal skills don’t quite make the grade, but we’re not going to argue about your cuteness factor!
Every week we say if they don’t vote off Tim Urban this time, we’re going to stop watching American Idol. Obviously, we aren’t keeping our promise. Seriously though, why the hell did poor Didi Benami get the boot this week and talentless Tim Urban still keeps managing to squeak through?
Didi Benami on 'American Idol' (FOX)
Yeah, we get it. VotefortheWorst.com fanatics and all that. Honestly though, are there really that many people out there willing to crush a girl’s dreams just for the amusement of keeping a loser like Tim Urban on stage to torture us week after week?
We’re not saying Didi Benami didn’t deserve to be cut. She had a weak performance and overall her time on American Idol has been mediocre for the most part. Still, the girl actually does have a voice, looks good on stage and probably has some kind of recording career ahead of her – even if it is just as a backup singer. Tim Urban, on the other hand, is literally one of the worst singers we’ve ever had the displeasure to hear.
Alright, alright, we’ll stop bashing. Somewhere in there we’re sure the poor guy has feelings to be hurt. Even so, it’s obvious from the look on his face during elimination (and the looks on the faces of his friends in the audience) that even he knows his time on American Idol should have been over long, long ago.
Speaking of terrible things to watch, what the hell was up with the so-called ‘entertainment’ on Idol this week? We usually love Usher, but his performance of “OMG” was pitchy, flat and groan-worthy. The song sucks badly enough, but he sounded like he was in some kind of terrible pain during the whole thing. Or he had a really, really bad head cold. Either way, it was suckage.
Diddy‘s performance with Dirty Money was even worse though. We can’t even call that crap music in the most liberal sense – and those strobe lights should have come with an epileptic warning. Ouch!
We can only hope that next week’s John Lennon and Paul McCartney theme shows will be more entertaining – and easier on the ears. We especially can’t wait to see what songs Crystal Bowersox and Michael Lynche will pull out of the hat. Could be awesome, could be horrible, just have to wait and see!
