Despite being a favorite on American Idol 2012 to many viewers, some fan polls this week have placed Joshua Ledet in the bottom two this week. In fact, there is more than one poll out there that actually shows Joshua Ledet as the one most in danger of elimination this round.Sometimes too much attention from the judges can have a negative backlash and that could be causing Joshua Ledet some trouble with the voters. Of course, there are the conspiracy theorists out there that think the judges are being SO vocal in their support of Joshua to distract from how much they actually want Jessica Sanchez to win. (Because the louder the judges cheer for someone, the more the voters get irritated about so-called ‘favoritism’.) There are all kinds of wild conspiracy theories out there.

In the end, it may just simply come down to which guy the voters like best because it is very unlikely we’ll end up with a final two of girl versus girl. American Idol 2012 Top 5: 1960′s Song

Hollie Cavanagh — “River Deep, Mountain High” by Ike and Tina Turner

Judges: The judges liked it and Steven Tyler says it is the first time he has ever really heard her. Jennifer Lopez says Hollie really attacked the song and bit into the words. Randy Jackson also says he loved it and Hollie dug into the song and wore it out.

Phillip Phillips — “The Letter” by The Box Tops

Judges: The reviews from the judges are a bit mixed. Although they like it, they poke at it a bit too. Randy Jackson says Phillip made the song his own, but it lacked a bit in melody. Jennifer Lopez says she didn’t know the original and didn’t know how to compare it, but Phillip is compelling to watch perform and she wants to applaud him. Steven Tyler says he misses the melody but Phillip still got away with the song and he’s original.

Judges: Steven says music loves Skylar as much as she loves music and he loved everything about the performance. Jennifer says Skylar is a natural and she’s fearless, attacking every song. Randy says he thinks CCR would be proud of her for another great performance; she was totally comfortable and in her element.

Jessica Sanchez — “Proud Mary” by Ike and Tina Turner

Judges: Steven says it was another great performance, Jessica did it again; she stepped it up and and went with it. Jennifer says she forgets Jessica is only 16, she’s so grown up; she was a bit of Tina and a bit of Beyonce. Randy says it was an okay performance for him but Jessica tried to slay the biggest dragon of the night and it wasn’t quite perfect.

Judges: Steven says Joshua is so fine and he is so talented, he’s one of the top Idol singers of all time. Jennifer says she enjoys it every single time and Joshua is like a throwback to another era. Randy says Joshua could bring R&B back to fashion and he loves the look.

Hollie Cavanagh — “Bleeding Love” by Leona Lewis

Judges: Steven says she nailed it and he loved it; she did what she does so well tonight. Jennifer says it was breathtaking and Hollie was amazing and maybe even surprised herself. Randy says it was an interesting song for her and it was a big song; Hollie has been the dark horse all season and both her performances tonight were great.

Judges: Steven says he is glad Phillip went with the melody this time and it was good. Jennifer says it was mellow and a good job. Randy says it was more relaxed and Phillip did well with singing the melody; it was a nice preformance.

Judges: Steven says he loves the song choice and Skylar made it modern it worked. Jennifer says it she can tell Skylar wants to win and she is winning the hearst of America. Randy says Skylar is peaking at the right time and it was a great job.

Jessica Sanchez — “You Are So Beautiful” by Joe Cocker

Judges: Steven says Jessica is going to be number one and she really showed America again how fabulous her voice is. Jennifer says it was great and reminded her of when she sang Whitney Houston. Randy says Jessica is at the top of the pack and she is so pro and an an unbelievable talent. Huge, huge props from the judges all around.

Judges: Yet another standing ovation from the judges for Joshua. Steven says Joshua is just such a great artist and this would have been a hit song on a record. Jennifer says he is one of the best singers in fify years and he is so passionate and really deserves his accolades. Rany says wow he is amazed Joshua had never heard the song before he rehearsed it for this and he is one of the best singers ever on this show.

Regardless of his current placement in the American Idol 2012 top 5 rankings, there is no doubting that Joshua Ledet is a powerhouse singer. Give him the right song and he can blow it out of the park and bring the judges and audience to their feet.

Obviously Phillip Phillips has the ability to charm the American Idol 2012 judges and the audience with his quirky style. Even though he does not always garner the highest praise from the judges and has had at least a few not-so-great performances, he keeps ranking near the top of the contestants week after week.

WARNING: AMERICAN IDOL 2012 SPOILERS AHEAD

Pleast stop here if you do not want to who got voted off American Idol 2012 in the elimination results show Thursday night!

For the American Idol 2012 elimination results show tonight, who would be voted off seemed clear to most of us predicting what would happen this week, and not just because this contestant failed to have a good performance last night. Unfortunately, there has been one contestant who has been consistently lagging behind the rest of the pack. Last week they managed to squeak through because the voters decided DeAndre Brackensick was slightly less worthy than they were. This week, however, there was no other singer at the same level to hide behind when it came time to face the music.

For my prediction of who would be voted off American Idol Thursday night, I chose Hollie Cavanagh, based on her past history on the show and her not very well-received performance on Wednesday night’s top 7 performances show. Hollie never really got over being a bit stiff and uncomfortable on stage and she had trouble connecting with the audience and the judges. She also frequently had pitch issues and her song choices were often questionable.

In addition, the rest of the contestants still remaining have all had their ‘wow’ moment on the show at some point this season. For some, it has been one ‘wow’ moment after the other, like with Jessica Sanchez and Joshua Ledet. For others, such as Elise Testone, it has been hit or miss, but she has certainly nailed it to the rafters a few times. For Hollie though, she has had a few really good performances, but nothing that will likely be remembered once this season is over.

Before the American Idol elimination results got to who the voters wanted to boot off, however, we had to whittle it down to the bottom three first. This is where the total surprise of the night came in — at least to me and quite a few other American Idol fans and bloggers out there! My American Idol prediction for those ranked lowest by the voters was TOTALLY WRONG.

The actual bottom three for American Idol this week turned out to include three of the strongest singers of the bunch… and Hollie Cavanagh, who has been hanging by a thread for weeks, was NOT one of them! Here is the bottom three for this week:

* Jessica Sanchez (what?)

* Elise Testone

* Joshua Ledet

Facing the elimination of one of these three Thursday night, Steven Tyler announced that no matter who ended up with the least amount of votes. That means the person that should have gone home but won’t on Thursday evening was:

* Jessica Sanchez – wow!

The judges are not at all pleased with America’s votes for the evening and make a dramatic jump onto the stage to declare their save of Jessica.

“Give me that mic, this is crazy! Yes, we’re using the save, you ain’t going home. Go sit down, go sit down,” Jennifer Lopez said as she sort of shoved Jessica toward the contestants already saved.

“We are saving Jessica, without any doubt. Let me just say this. For myself, Steven and Jennifer, this girl is one of the best singers in America! Ever!” Randy Jackson said. “Are you kidding me? Please everybody… Please vote for the best, it’s about finding the best. I mean, come on!”

So guess what everyone? Next week we will have the entire American Idol top 7 back again! Now THAT is one heck of an exciting results show!

Host Ryan Seacrest leaked a hint on Twitter on Thursday afternoon that fans might just be surprised when it comes to the American Idol elimination results Thursday evening. In between talking about Michael Phelps and playing Draw Something, Ryan Seacrest popped out the following Tweet:

So what is American Idol Ryan Seacrest hinting at? Well, I have to say I think it is not actually going to be about a “shocking” elimination on Thursday night. However, I do think it might be a hint that the voters are going to let one of the former favorites in the competition fall into the bottom three. Personally I think Seacrest was mostly trying to inflate the drama and the hype a bit going into tonight’s show, especially as he followed this Tweet with another proclaiming it was a “big” Idol results night.

My bet, as I previously predicted, is that this hint is foreshadowing that former favorite Phillip Phillips will find himself in the bottom of the pack this week after a very weak performance and a spotty track record over the past few weeks.

As far as the American Idol 2012 elimination results on Thursday night, I still really can’t see anyone but Hollie Cavanagh getting the boot. I think if it was going to be someone else, Ryan Seacrest’s Tweet would have said “there is a result tonight @AmericanIdol that EVERYONE would say is very shocking!”

For the American Idol 2012 elimination results show tonight, the pattern seemed clear in advance that two contestants in particular would be ending up in the bottom three. After weeks of failing to wow the voters or come out on top with the judges, it seemed pretty much a given that DeAndre Brackensick and Hollie Cavanagh would be facing the possibility of going home on Thursday night.

Even though my original American Idol prediction for elimination this week was DeAndre Brackensick, I was actually persuaded to change my prediction at the last minute to Hollie Cavanagh as the one who would get the boot. This was all due to the American Idol 2012 performances on last night’s 80′s themed show. While DeAndre Brackensick managed to impress me for perhaps the first time in the whole competition, Hollie Cavanagh was pitchy, stiff and uncomfortable on stage, leading me to think that perhaps the voters would give that extra little bit of kick her way to throw her off.

To round out the bottom three last night, my American Idol prediction was for powerhouse singer Elise Testone to end up there as well. Even though Elise has had some killer performances — like last week’s “Whole Lotta Love” — overall the voters just don’t seem to like her. Plus, her performance on 80′s night was really off and not at all one of her best, although her duet with Phillip Phillips was tight.

So for the bottom three, we ended up with the people most were choosing in their American Idol 2012 predictions for the elimination results tonight: Hollie Cavanagh, DeAndre Brackensick and Elise Testone. For me, I was impressed enough with DeAndre on Wednesday night to give him a second chance for one more week, despite not being a fan of the curly-haired boy in the least. How did the rest of the voters feel about it?

Well, Ryan Seacrest let Hollie Cavanagh off the hook when he revealed she was safe and would be joining the American Idol 2012 top 7. That just left Elise Testone and DeAndre Brackensick to face off in the final two. Finally, after his usually stringing it out far too long, host Ryan Seacrest announced Hollie Cavanagh was safe for one more week. Thus spoke the voters.

Poor DeAndre Brackensick had to sing for his life in front of the judges, probably knowing all the while that they were not going to waste their save to keep him around for another week when he’d probably just get voted off again the next time. Indeed, when they were asked if they would save him, only Jennifer Lopez stood up for the young singer.

“This boy right here, we’ve been watching him for two years. You’re an amazing performer, and I stand by that,” Jennifer Lopez said “I think you have an amazing voice, and you’re gonna share a lot with the world, I really do believe that. [But] I only get one vote. I’m sorry, we’re not saving you tonight. I’m sorry, baby.”

For the American Idol 2012 top 7, that leaves us with:

• Joshua Ledet
• Jessica Sanchez
• Colton Dixon
• Skylar Laine
• Phillip Phillips
 • Hollie Cavanagh
 • Elise Testone

So there you have it, the American Idol top 7. I am going to venture a guess right now and say that if something radical doesn’t happen in the next round, it will probably be Holie Cavanagh going home. Then again, Elise Testone could royally suck when she hits the stage next week and — if she doesn’t pick up some of DeAndre’s votes — end up with the short end of the stick.

I won’t go into rehashing each of the performances here, as you can read through the American Idol recaps from last night here (part one) and here (part two). Suffice it to say that in general, the performances last night were quite good. In the case of fan favorite Jessica Sanchez, Joshua Ledet and (surprisingly) Skylar Laine, I would say they were even great.

Colton Dixon, my personal favorite, did a terrific rendition of Cyndi Lauper‘s “Time After Time” with a punk rock edge, but I personally think it was not one of his strongest performances. Phillip Phillips, considered one of the front-runners on American Idol 2012, actually had a rather disappointing performance this week on 80′s night. Still, he is a favorite and his duet with Elise Testone was stellar, so I don’t see him being in any danger. Elise Testone did not fare so well in her solo, but my hope is that her duet performance will save her from the bottom two… although she could end up in the bottom three.

That leaves me with the two I think are most likely to end up in the bottom two: Hollie Cavanagh and DeAndre Brackensick. Last week, I was surprised when DeAndre Brackensick actually made it through another round. My American Idol prediction then would have been that he would definitely go this week. After his quite well done performance of “I Like it” by DeBarge on American Idol last night, however, I think he just might have managed to save himself another week.

Unfortunately for Hollie Cavanagh, she did not redeem herself at all with her rendition of “What a Feeling” by Irene Cara on American Idol last night. Her performance was weak, way off pitch in places and just not up to par with the rest of the contestants on 80′s night.

While DeAndre Brackensick may have possibly managed to impress the judges and the audience enough to make it through the American Idol elimination results show tonight, I have a feeling that Hollie Cavanagh only made her chances of getting through worse with her performance last night. Thus, my American Idol 2012 prediction for elimination this week is going to be Hollie Cavanagh. I also predict that the judges will not use their save this week if it is Hollie.
