On American Idol last night, Lee Dewyze’s “Hallelujah” performance definitely stole the show, but does that mean he really deserves to be in the final two despite a season of rough ups and downs? And what about Crystal Bowersox, the huge fan favorite who appeared to have the win nailed down weeks ago, but recently seems to have lost some of her shine?

Once again, most of American Idol last night was one step above torture to watch. Which is sad. We really hoped ‘movie night’ on Idol would be a blast. Thankfully, the Crystal Bowersox and Lee Dewyze duet brought us at least one moment of American Idol glory to enjoy.

We never thought he would make it to the final two, but we were a little surprised when Aaron Kelly was kicked off American Idol last night. After Casey James’ lousy performance this week, we rather thought he would be the one to finally get bagged.

American Idol last night left us with a feeling of unrest and mild depression. Even our favorite girl, Crystal Bowersox, failed to give us the happy pill that would have at least raised the show to the level of only mildly boring. Michael Lynche almost managed to drag us out of the gutter, but in the end we were just left limp and wasted on the floor by the night’s performances.

Even Crystal Bowersox failed to liven up the dismal fail of American Idol last night. Shania Twain proved to be a relatively intelligent and entertaining guest mentor, but the contestants were disappointing across the board.

This week on American Idol is all about giving back. Unfortunately, we’d like to give back quite a few of the performances we had to endure on Monday night’s show. Crystal Bowersox may have moved the audience – and herself – to tears, but overall the contestants failed capture the ‘inspirational’ theme of the evening.

After last night’s American Idol performances to kick off Idol Gives Back week, we’re no longer rooting for Crystal Bowersox to win, we’re demanding it. Mama Sox may have lost it and broke down in tears at the end of her rendition of “People Get Ready,” but she also gave one of the best vocal performances we’ve ever seen on the show.

American Idol lost two of the show’s least impressive contestants last night when Katie Stevens and Andrew Garcia were finally voted off. While we kind of had a fondness for too-generic Stevens, we weren’t surprised to see her get the boot. As far as Garcia goes, he should have been cut weeks ago and we think he should be grateful as hell he stayed long enough to go on the American Idol Live tour.

American Idol contestant Michael Lynche lucked out big time last night when the judges decided to use their precious ‘save’ to keep him from being voted off the show. We’re glad Big Mike didn’t bite it, but we can’t help but wonder why the hell he was nearly cut in the first place?

The performances on American Idol last night were rather surprisingly good overall, a nice change from the abysmal mess most of the contestants seem to be from week to week. Once again, Crystal Bowersox was our favorite of the night, giving a sexy, quirky groove to her version of “Come Together.”
