Jessica Sanchez, Joshua Ledet, and Phillips Phillips are just one step away from reaching that coveted spot in the American Idol 2012 final two. After Thursday night’s American Idol 2012 results show, only two of these smiling faces will be continuing on to the finale. While my personal American Idol 2012 prediction is that it will be Phillip Phillips who gets the boot this week, there is honestly just no way of knowing what the rather unpredictable voters this season will decide to do.

Who will get voted off American Idol 2012 this week could be determined by one terrible slip up on Wednesday night, or one tremendously great moment that blows everyone else away. Let’s hope it will be a night of amazing performances as we head into our American Idol 2012 live top 3 performance night recap!

American Idol 2012 Top 3 Performances — Judges’ Choice

Joshua Ledet — “I’d Rather Go Blind” by Etta James

Judges: Steven Tyler says it is another Joshua moment and it is surreal; he sang like an American Idol winner tonight. Jennifer Lopez says Joshua has brought the house down again. Randy Jackson thinks the song fit him like a glove and it was another amazing performance. He hopes Joshua can bring R&B to modern times.

Jessica Sanchez — “My All” by Mariah Carey

Judges: Randy says it was beautiful and they tell people all the time not to do Mariah, but that was the best time anyone has done Mariah on TV. Jennifer says she knew this song would be a challenge for Jessica but she totally took it and ran with it; great job. Steven says when Jessica sings it makes people hang on her every note. Even though he basically just said Joshua sang like the American Idol tonight, Steven thinks Jessica will be the last one standing; she should get used to the encores.

Phillip Phillips — “Beggin’” by Madcon

Judges: Randy says they were just at the Phillip Phillips concert, he was fun, had a good time and in the zone; another great performance, he is who he is and they love it. Jennifer says Phillip catches a groove in a song that brings him all the way home; great. Steven asks can you believe this guy? It was beautiful to watch and he hopes Phillip writes his own songs because he could be the next Springsteen.

Round one is over and there was no standing ovation for Joshua Ledet or Jessica Sanchez this round. Gasp! Nope, instead it was Phillip Phillips who actually got the judges on their feet. Still, Randy Jackson thinks Joshua Ledet is in the lead, but Jennifer disagrees and says Phillip is. Steven can’t decide.

American Idol 2012 Top 3 Performances — Contestants’ Choice

Joshua Ledet – “Imagine” by John Lennon

Judges: Steven Tyler says it is beautiful and over the top; he is so fine and it was a thank you god moment. Jennifer Lopez says Joshua has and incredible instrument and he is very special; it was a controlled and pulled back performance and had courage nad vulnerability. Randy says Joshua dug deep into the song and the performance; another stellar performance. Brilliant, dude.

Jessica Sanchez – “I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing” by Aerosmith

Judges: Steven Tyler is thrilled and thinks Jessica took a great song and actually made it greater; beautiful! He gives her a standing ovation. Jennifer says Jessica did a really, really good job. Randy Jackson thinks it started off slow but Jessica delivered a big moment.

Phillip Phillips – “Disease” by Matchbox 20

Judges: Jennifer says she loves the song but she didn’t think it was a “wow” performance. It was good, but she wants to see what he’ll do next. Steven says he feels the same. Randy didn’t like the performance either, he wanted a moment but it was just okay with him.

Joshua Ledet - “No More Drama” by Mary J. Blige

Judges: Randy says it doesn’t even matter what Joshua does anymore or what he sings, he is amazing and a true star. People should just stand up and vote for him. Jennifer says Joshua is a perfect marriage of knowing what to do and when to do it, everything is so natural and spontaneous. He took them to church with the gospel; out of this world. Steven says it was beautiful and over the top. Steven says EVERYTHING is over the top.

Jessica Sanchez – “I’ll Be There’ by Jackson 5

Judges: Randy says he liked it okay but he didn’t love it; there was no big moment, it was okay but not oh my god good. Jennifer thinks it was a good song choice and Jessica sounded crazy good and killed it at the end; good job. Steven says it was perfect, she has a perfect voice it was — yes, again — over the top.

Phillip Phillips – “We’ve Got Tonight” by Bob Segar

Judges: Randy thinks it was the best performance Phillip has had on the show ever, it was a huge moment, you got ‘em dude! Jennifer says there are millions of girls out there wishing he was singing that song for them. Steven says he can’t call it anything else but beautiful (like everything else) and he nailed it and was, OMG, OVER THE TOP!

After the American Idol 2012 results show on Thursday night, only two contestants will remain to battle it out in the finale for the top prize and the right to call themselves an American Idol winner.

While the odds are currently leaning toward a matchup between Jessica Sanchez and Joshua Ledet in the final two right now with Phillip Phillips maybe going home this week, you can never predict with absolute certainty what the voters will do. The choice of who will end up in the finals could come down to just one bad or one great performance Wednesday night.

Jessica Sanchez, Joshua Ledet, Phillips Phillips and Hollie Cavanagh are just a few weeks away from reaching that coveted stop in the American Idol 2012 finale. Right now all bets are pretty much off when it comes to predicting who will win American Idol 2012.

After Thursday night’s American Idol 2012 results show, only three will move on to compete last week in the last showdown before the American Idol 2012 finale. While my personal American Idol 2012 prediction is that it will be either Hollie Cavanagh or Phillip Phillips who goes home this time, there is honestly just no way of knowing what the rather unpredictable voters this season will do this week.

Who will get voted off American Idol 2012 this week could be determined by just one bad performance. All of the remaining American Idol 2012 top 4 will have to bring it in a serious way tonight if they want to move on to the next round. Let’s hope all of the singers will be at the top of their game tonight as we head into our American Idol 2012 live top 4 performance night recap!

American Idol 2012 Top 4 Performances — California Dreamin’ Songs

Phillip Phillips — “Have You Ever Seen the Rain” by Creedence Clearwater Revival

Judges: Steven Tyler says Phillip is something else; living proof that the road to success is always under construction. Jennifer Lopez thinks Phillip had a Joe Cocker quality that was new and not something they had heard before; he did a great job, it was perfect. Randy Jackson says Phillip had a bit of a pitch problem in the beginning, it was a little rough,?but it all started going great when he started smiling, then it was sensational.

Hollie Cavanagh — “Faithfully” by Journey

Judges: Steven Tyler says Hollie has shown she’s grown up and blossomed; she is so creative and her song choice was over the top. Jennifer says she has always believed in Hollie?and knew she could be so good; it was very beautiful. Randy thinks Hollie?is peaking at the right time and she is doing it; he is amazed at how she has been slaying it and she did Journey proud. He calls her dude and dawg, which is high compliment from Randy.

Joshua Ledet — “You Raise Me Up” by Josh Groban

Judges: Steven says he is so glad Joshua got on that plane, he sang his tush off, the world is accepting him like nobody’s business. Jennifer Lopez says OMG, another great performance, she loves the drama, really, really great; keep it consistent. Randy Jackson says he is really happy Joshua came back, he is a great artist, he can sing anything and will have a huge career.

Jessica Sanchez — “Steal Away” by Etta James

Judges: Steven loves it and tells Jessica she showed off a new side of herself and nailed it. Jennifer says Jessica is one of the best ones out there and she loves her growl. Randy says he loves seeing a 16-year-old be able to do that song; she could sing the phone book, her vocals are ridiculous.

Now we have a duet with Phillip and Joshua on “This Love” by Maroon 5. Interesting that they chose to pair the two guys together instead of doing a boy/girl duet. Kind of like a sing-off against each other really! They actually sound quite well together. Steven says it was perfect and he loved it. Jennifer thinks it was a perfect song for the two of them with their very different styles. Randy says it was a great song and they sounded fantastic and made it their own.

Our second duet of the evening is Jessica Sanchez and Hollie Cavanagh on “Eternal Flame” by The Bangles. Steven says they didn’t sing it out the way the guys did but they are now the judges favorite swingers (you kind of have to see the visual). Jennifer says she didn’t think it was that bad (but wasn’t great), both girls have sweetness and power. Randy thinks it was a little strange. They are both powerful singers, but he didn’t like it; it was weird.

While we wait for the next set of performances, we get a tour video of the mansion where the American Idol top 4 are currently residing. I could go for a nice long stay in those digs!

Before the individual performances kick in again, we have a quartet from the top 4 of “I’ve Been Waiting (For A Girl Like You)” by Foreigner. A bit lame.

American Idol 2012 Top 4 Performances — Inspirational Songs They Wish They’d Written

Phillip Phillips — “Volcano” by Damien Rice

Judges:?Steven says he could hear the musician in the song, he’s never heard Phillip sing like that; it was beautiful and he could listen to it over and over again. Jennifer says very few people could pull off that song, it is a real testament to him; it was one of the most poignant moments ever on Idol, lovely. Randy says this is what it is all about, one of his best performances of the whole season, amazing, great.

Hollie Cavanagh — “I Can’t Make You Love Me” by Bonnie Raitt

Judges: Steven thinks Hollie fell a little short on the song, she just didn’t feel it. Jennifer thinks Hollie is just too young to connect with the song, you have to have?had your heart broken and it didn’t happen for her; her voice was shaky. Randy says the song was great but it was the wrong choice for this moment in the competition.

Joshua Ledet — “It’s A Man’s Man’s Man’s World” by James Brown

Judges: Yet another standing ovation from the judges. Steven says no one has ever sang that good with such compassion ever on Idol before; he has never heard anything like that in his life. Jennifer says she thought they had seen everying Joshua had to give, but they obviously hadn’t. Randy says Joshua delivered them tonight and it was the greatest song ever for him; the best performance ever on any singing competition. Jessica Sanchez — “And I’m Telling You I’m Not Going” Jennifer Holliday

Judges: The judges also give Jessica a standing ovation, although it is a little less swift and enthusiastic. Steven says it was another winning performance and just over the top. Jennifer says it looks like it will be a real race to the finish, it was a real moment and Jessica’s vocal ability is just not something you see every day. Randy says he doesn’t know what is going on tnight, but they are in it to win it. This was one of the hardest songs to sing and it was a great performance; phenomenal.

Despite being a favorite on American Idol 2012 to many viewers, some fan polls this week have placed Joshua Ledet in the bottom two this week. In fact, there is more than one poll out there that actually shows Joshua Ledet as the one most in danger of elimination this round.Sometimes too much attention from the judges can have a negative backlash and that could be causing Joshua Ledet some trouble with the voters. Of course, there are the conspiracy theorists out there that think the judges are being SO vocal in their support of Joshua to distract from how much they actually want Jessica Sanchez to win. (Because the louder the judges cheer for someone, the more the voters get irritated about so-called ‘favoritism’.) There are all kinds of wild conspiracy theories out there.

In the end, it may just simply come down to which guy the voters like best because it is very unlikely we’ll end up with a final two of girl versus girl. American Idol 2012 Top 5: 1960′s Song

Hollie Cavanagh — “River Deep, Mountain High” by Ike and Tina Turner

Judges: The judges liked it and Steven Tyler says it is the first time he has ever really heard her. Jennifer Lopez says Hollie really attacked the song and bit into the words. Randy Jackson also says he loved it and Hollie dug into the song and wore it out.

Phillip Phillips — “The Letter” by The Box Tops

Judges: The reviews from the judges are a bit mixed. Although they like it, they poke at it a bit too. Randy Jackson says Phillip made the song his own, but it lacked a bit in melody. Jennifer Lopez says she didn’t know the original and didn’t know how to compare it, but Phillip is compelling to watch perform and she wants to applaud him. Steven Tyler says he misses the melody but Phillip still got away with the song and he’s original.

Judges: Steven says music loves Skylar as much as she loves music and he loved everything about the performance. Jennifer says Skylar is a natural and she’s fearless, attacking every song. Randy says he thinks CCR would be proud of her for another great performance; she was totally comfortable and in her element.

Judges: Steven says it was another great performance, Jessica did it again; she stepped it up and and went with it. Jennifer says she forgets Jessica is only 16, she’s so grown up; she was a bit of Tina and a bit of Beyonce. Randy says it was an okay performance for him but Jessica tried to slay the biggest dragon of the night and it wasn’t quite perfect.

Judges: Steven says Joshua is so fine and he is so talented, he’s one of the top Idol singers of all time. Jennifer says she enjoys it every single time and Joshua is like a throwback to another era. Randy says Joshua could bring R&B back to fashion and he loves the look.

Hollie Cavanagh — “Bleeding Love” by Leona Lewis

Judges: Steven says she nailed it and he loved it; she did what she does so well tonight. Jennifer says it was breathtaking and Hollie was amazing and maybe even surprised herself. Randy says it was an interesting song for her and it was a big song; Hollie has been the dark horse all season and both her performances tonight were great.

Judges: Steven says he is glad Phillip went with the melody this time and it was good. Jennifer says it was mellow and a good job. Randy says it was more relaxed and Phillip did well with singing the melody; it was a nice preformance.

Judges: Steven says he loves the song choice and Skylar made it modern it worked. Jennifer says it she can tell Skylar wants to win and she is winning the hearst of America. Randy says Skylar is peaking at the right time and it was a great job.

Judges: Steven says Jessica is going to be number one and she really showed America again how fabulous her voice is. Jennifer says it was great and reminded her of when she sang Whitney Houston. Randy says Jessica is at the top of the pack and she is so pro and an an unbelievable talent. Huge, huge props from the judges all around.

Besides Elise Testone, who was eliminated on American Idol 2012 last week, Phillip Phillips is perhaps the contestant with the most questionable and unpredictable song choices.
