American Idol 2012: Top 7 Week Recap (VIDEO)

The American Idol 2012 top 7 performed ‘songs from this decade’ on Wednesday night. While overall one of my favorite nights so far on this season of Idol (mostly due to the song choices), there were some contestants who failed to impress the judges with their performances this week. Thankfully, there were also a few American Idol 2012 competitors who soared with their modern era song selections.

American Idol 2012 Top 7: Elise Testone – ‘You and I’ by Lady Gaga (VIDEO)

So far on American Idol 2012, powerhouse vocalist Elise Testone has had a roller coaster of a ride. Some weeks she has blown it right out of the water with huge, amazing performances. Other weeks, she has fallen flat with the judges and the audience.

Last week was one of those weeks Elise Testone did not do so well, so this week she came out of the gate with a big song to get big attention for herself from the voters.

American Idol 2012 Top 7: Phillip Phillips – ‘Give a Little More’ by Maroon 5 (VIDEO)

On the American Idol 2012 top 7 performance show this week, Phillip Phillips selected “Give a Little More” by Maroon 5 for his song choice. Phillip Phillips has been a strong competitor throughout the competition, but his place among the favorites this year has been slipping a bit the past few weeks.

American Idol 2012 Top 7: Hollie Cavanagh – ‘Perfect’ by Pink (VIDEO)

For her song choice for American Idol 2012 top 7 performance night, Hollie Cavanagh tried to amp it up with “Perfect” by Pink in an effort to impress the judges and the voters. Hollie is in serious danger of going home this week after being consistently ranked in the bottom of the pack for weeks.

American Idol 2012 Top 7: Jessica Sanchez ‘Stuttering’ (VIDEO)

For her performance on American Idol 2012 top 7 night, petite powerhouse Jessica Sanchez went for a song with a bit less of a recognition factor – “Stuttering” by Jazmine Sullivan, but Jimmy Iovine thinks it is a great song choice for her. Guest mentor Akon is in love and can’t believe how amazing her voice is. He thinks she just might be the one to take the whole thing.

Second to perform on American Idol 2012 top 7 night was punk rock, spiky hair Colton Dixon with “Love The Way You Lie” by Skylar Grey. Guest mentor Akon told Skylar he needed to take himself beyond to the next level and Jimmy Iovine warned him not to jump to the chorus too quickly.
