American Idol 2012 runner-up Jessica Sanchez was understandably upset by her loss in this year’s finals, but she admires the perseverance of opponent Phillips Phillips, who battled a painful kidney condition throughout the competition.
One of Jessica Sanchez’s biggest disappointments was actually failing to win this year’s American Idol 2012 crown for the ladies. A guy has now been the American Idol winner for five years on a row.
American Idol 2012 winner Phillips Phillips has made Idol history by hitting 278,000 downloads of “Home” and debuting at No 2. on the Hot Digital Songs chart. “Home” had the second-best digital sales week for any Idol contestant, debuting just slightly lower than Kelly Clarkson‘s “My Life Would Suck Without You” with 280,000 downloads in 2009.
Phillip Phillips’ “Home” also nabbed the record for the most downloaded song after an American Idol finale, beating out David Cook‘s finale song “The Time of My Life” from season 7. “Home” was also the fourth highest debut of the year so far behind Justin Bieber, Maroon 5 and Katy Perry.
American Idol season 10 runner-up Lauren Alaina has released her first official post-Idol music video. The video is for her new single “Like My Mother Does,” which entered the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart at 49 and Hot 100 chart at number 20.
Lauren Alaina was signed to Mercury Nashville Records following her stint on American Idol season 10. Her first album on the label is due out in the fall and is currently available for pre-order on her website.
Since American Idol, Lauren Alaina has performed on a variety of talk shows, including The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Live with Regis and Kelly and The Today Show. She was also a presenter at the CMT Music Awards on June 8 and has performed at the Grand Ole Opry and the CMA Music Festival.
Lauren Alaina is currently traveling the country on the American Idols LIVE! Tour 2011, which will have its last stop in the Philippines on September 20.
