Amy Winehouse Had No Illegal Drugs In Body At Time of Death

Amy Winehouse had no illegal drugs in her system at the time of her death, toxicology results from the British singer’s autopsy have revealed. Winehouse had consumed alcohol, but it has not yet been determined if it played a part in her cause of death.

“Toxicology results returned to the Winehouse family by authorities have confirmed that there were no illegal substances in Amy’s system at the time of her death,” a statement released by Winehouse’s family said. “Results indicate that alcohol was present but it cannot be determined as yet if it played a role in her death.”

“The family would like to thank the police and coroner for their continuing thorough investigations and for keeping them informed throughout the process. They await the outcome of the inquest in October,” the statement concluded.

Amy Winehouse was found dead at the age of 27 by a bodyguard at London flat in the Cambden district on July 23. Police officials have stated no illegal drugs or drug paraphernalia was found in her home. Winehouse had reportedly had a positive check up by a doctor the night before she died.

“She was in her bedroom after saying she wanted to sleep, and when he went to wake her, [the bodyguard] found she wasn’t breathing,” Winehouse’s representative Chris Goodman told the Sun. “He called the emergency services straight away. He was very shocked. At this stage no one knows how she died. She died alone in bed.”

Amy Winehouse Cause of Death May Have Been Alcohol Withdrawal

Amy Winehouse‘s cause of death may have been acute alcohol withdrawal, or so her family believes. According to her family, Amy Winehouse had totally stopped drinking during the last few weeks of her life. Her doctor had allegedly told her to gradually stop drinking, but her family claims the British singer ignored the advice and went cold turkey instead.

An unidentified friend of the Winehouse family allegedly told the Sun British tabloid that the singer’s family believes alcohol withdrawal may have caused her death. “Abstinence gave her body such a fright they thought it was eventually the cause of her death,” the source said. People magazine has allegedly confirmed the family believes alcohol withdrawal may have contributed to Amy Winehouse’s cause of death.

Symptoms of alcohol withdrawal can include nausea and vomiting, heart palpitations, tachycardia, hypertension and even seizures, convulsions and death when extreme. The severity of symptoms can depend on the degree of alcohol intake and length of time the person has been abusing alcohol.

At her funeral, her father, Mitch Winehouse, allegedly said doctors told Amy to gradually reduce her alcohol intake and avoid binging on liquor. “Amy told him she couldn’t do that. It was all or nothing and she gave up completely,” the source allegedly told the Sun. “Mitch said the shock of giving up, after everything she had been through over a bad few years, was just too much for her to take.”

The Daily Mail, however, has reported that Amy was suffering from a recent breakup and had purchased a large amount of drugs the night before she died. She was also allegedly seen drinking heavily.

The official Amy Winehouse autopsy report revealed nothing conclusive about her death. The coroner is now waiting on toxicology tests, which may take several more weeks, to hopefully give evidence on how the 27-year-old singer died.

Microsoft Apologizes for Greedy Amy Winehouse Death Tweet

Microsoft has apologized for posting an inappropriate Tweet capitalizing on Amy Winehouse‘s death to promote their Zune products. The official PR Twitter account for XBox3260 UK posted a Tweet telling followers to pay tribute to the singer by downloading her music from them. The response to what many saw as a greedy attempt to capitalize on the singer’s death was not positive.

“Remember Amy Winehouse by downloading the ground-breaking ‘Back to Black’ over at Zune” the Tweet from @tweetbox360 rudely proclaimed. Followers immediately began slamming back, saying the Tweet was just greedy capitlization on the singer’s death.

One responder, @izzyizzo, replied “Slick move, Bill & Steve.” @thisisthebang said “Microsoft – failing at social media” in response to the Tweet. Another sarcastically called Microsoft a “class act” and @sharnajackson just called the whole thing “gross.”

Two hours after posting the original Tweet, @tweetbox360 followed up with a much delayed apology. “Apologies to everyone if our earlier Amy Winehouse ‘download’ tweet seemed purely commercially motivated. Far from the case, we assure you,” the first message said. A second stated: “With Amy W’s passing, the world has lost a huge talent. Our thoughts are with Amy’s family and friends at this very sad time.”

Microsoft wasn’t the only business to stupidly use Amy Winehouse’s death as an opportunity to market themselves. Esquire Magazine posted a Tweet on Monday saying “meet the stylish man who inspired Amy Winehouse” with a link to an article called “In Tragedy, a Style Appreciation for Blake Fielder-Civil.”

Blake Fielder-Civil is, of course, Amy Winehouse’s ex-husband, who more than a few people blame for helping the British singer down the destructive path of drug and alcohol addiction. The two also reportedly had a rather abusive physical relationship at times, with both appearing in public with injuries allegedly caused by the other person.

Amy Winehouse Autopsy Reveals Little About Singer’s Death

No official cause of death has been determined from the Amy Winehouse autopsy, which was conducted in London on Monday. The coroner will now have to wait two to four weeks for toxicology results to come back. Meanwhile, new details have been brought to light about the British singer’s final hours.

Amy Winehouse died in her bed at her London home in Cambden Square, according representative Chris Goodman. Goodman said on Monday that a bodyguard had been hired to keep watch over Winehouse and he was the one who found her body. Coroner’s officer Sharon Duff said the the “scene was investigated by police and determined non-suspicious.”

“She was in her bedroom after saying she wanted to sleep, and when he went to wake her he found she wasn’t breathing,” Goodman told MTV News. “He called the emergency services straight away. He was very shocked. At this stage no one knows how she died. She died alone in bed.”

After making an official identification of the singer’s body, Winehouse’s parents stopped by her flat in Cambden, where a shrine to Winehouse continues to grow. Among the candles and flowers, fans also left boxes of cigarettes and bottles of liquor.

Amy Winehouse’s father told a crowd of fans and media that his daughter “was about one thing, and that was love.” Mitch Winehouse said Winehouse’s “whole life was devoted to her family, friends, and to you guys as well. We’re devastated and I’m speechless, but thanks for coming.”

According to her family, Amy Winehouse had received a clean bill of a health from a doctor on Friday. Winehouse battled severe drug and alcohol addictions much of her life. She had allegedly sought treatment for these addictions as recently as last month.
