Eminem on 60 Minutes: “I’m just whatever”

Did anyone check out the Eminem interview on 60 Minutes this week?  That was equal parts inspiring and baffling.  On the one hand, the guy has just come back from a tremendous several-year struggle with addiction and scraping the bottom of the career barrel, and now he’s back on top of his game.  In addition, he came across as a responsible and caring father, taking care not only of his own daughter, but also two other children that are not technically his.  The only kind of awkward moment was when Anderson Cooper asked Eminem if he did or did not like gay people, a rather timely question considering the recent series of suicides prompted by homophobic bullying.  Eminem replied, “No I don’t have any problem with nobody, you know what I mean? Like, I’m just whatever.”  Um, okay.  Off and on during the interview they kept talking about how Eminem is a veritable genius with words, and yet the best the word genius can come up with is, “like, I’m just whatever”?  I’d like to see him answer that question for real at some point.

Anderson Cooper Leaving CNN to Replace Katie Couric?

Could silver-haired fox Anderson Cooper be leaving CNN to replace Katie Couric on CBS? That’s what the rumor mill is pondering today. According to the New York Times, Anderson Cooper met with CBS executives recently to discuss his future plans, which might just include an anchor job with the network.

It’s no secret Katie Couric hasn’t been much of a ratings grabber for CBS’s Evening News program and her contract will be expiring next year. CBS News President Sean McManus recently said the network has no plans to boot Couric from her anchor spot, but that hasn’t stopped the gossip-mongers from wondering if CBS might be scouting for her replacement.

Anderson Cooper already contributes to CBS’s 60 Minutes program in addition to his anchor duties on Anderson Cooper 360. Previous rumors circulated that CBS considered courting Cooper to take over The Early Show, but that never panned out.

Whether Anderson Cooper does replace Katie Couric or keeps on trucking on CNN, we’ll follow him anywhere. CNN or CBS, Cooper is still the hottest anchor out there. And wouldn’t you rather take your daily dose of bad news with a side dish of gorgeous? We certainly would!

* Update: Cooper’s reps have reportedly told Politico.com there is no truth to the rumor he has been discussing replacing Katie Couric with CBS. “Reports that Cooper has recently met with CBS News re: an anchor position are false. He is not engaged in any additional conversations with them beyond those necessary for his continuing role on 60 Minutes,” his reps said in a press statement.

Lindsay Lohan: Not A Pundit

Lindsay Lohan likes to blog. She’s espoused upon her trainwreck of a dad, and her “relationship” with Samantha Ronson. Political commentary, however, isn’t her wheelhouse.

After Lindsay’s rant against Republican VP contender Sarah Palin last month, her management team has strongly encouraged her to stop blogging about the presidential election or, for that matter, ANY of her political interests. Sayeth one of her former publicists:

“It’s just a matter of time before Lindsay puts her foot in her mouth, and that’s what they worry about.”

Lindsay’s management is right. Anderson Cooper she is NOT. She should write ONLY about her heinous line of leggings, snarks against her frenemies, and, most importantly, what the next step will be in SamRo’s makeover.
