Howard Stern said Monday he would not comment on sidekick Artie Lange‘s recent admission to the hospital for an undisclosed condition. However, the radio shock jock did take time to blast rumors about the comedian’s fragile state, saying he “wanted to vomit” over some of the things being said about Lange.

Artie Lange, 42, was admitted to a New Jersey hospital last week but his spokesman said no information would be released regarding why he was staying in the medical facility. Lange has been absent from the Howard Stern Show since early December and has cancelled all his stand-up appearances through February.

Various rumors about why Lange entered the hospital and cancelled upcoming gigs have been circulating through the tabloid and gossip sites, including speculation about the comedian’s unhealthy lifestyle and prior alleged drug and alcohol abuse.
“Artie has given this show tremendous moments of great comedy,” Howard Stern said, according to PhillyBurbs.com. “He’s a tremendous contributor. He is a good man. Don’t forget how great he is.”
Stern also slammed rumors Lange is being replaced by Sirius host Jim Breuer, saying they were “absolutely false… I don’t know where that comes from.”
