According to Page Six, Artie Lange was reportedly found by his mother, Judy Lange, at his Hoboken N.J. apartment on Saturday morning. Lange’s mother called 911 after finding the comedian bleeding heavily from nine self-inflicted stab wounds. Six of the wounds were reportedly “hesitation” cuts and three of them deep wounds.

Lange was transported to a local hospital where he underwent surgery. No other information regarding his condition has been released.

The Howard Stern Show cast member previously attempted suicide once before and has suffered serious bouts of depression, topics which he has discussed during radio broadcasts and in his 2008 memoir, Too Fat to Fish.

Artie Lange recently announced he was taking a break from performing, saying in December that he needed time to “get my head straight.” Lange has been absent from The Howard Stern Show since early December and cancelled various scheduled gigs through February, according to his website.
