Anne Hathaway to Tie the Knot!

Actress Anne Hathaway, who’s played a princess in the movies, will soon get her own fairy tale day. She recently got engaged to boyfriend Adam Shulman and although her spokesperson didn’t provide many other details we’re hoping she had the perfect proposal and will soon start planning a wedding fit for a princess.

29-year-old Hathaway has been dating her now-fiancee – an actor and jewelry designer – since 2008. It’s always amazing when two actors manage to sustain a relationship for any length of time, and are able to keep themselves out of the tabloids, which these two seem to have done. This bodes well for their future since very few relationships are able to long endure the scrutiny of the spotlight.

Of course, Hathaway’s had her share of the spotlight. The  “Princess Diaries” and “The Devil Wears Prada” star went through a public break-up with ex-boyfriend Raffaello Follieri when he was arrested and pleaded guilty on fraud charges.

Hathaway stars in upcoming superhero film “The Dark Knight Rises,” playing Catwoman opposite Christian Bale as Batman.

Feds Drop Persuit Of Heath Ledger’s Drug Death & Mary-Kate Olsen


Federal Prosecutors have decided NOT to pursue official charges into the death of Heath Ledger. The Feds decided not to pursue a criminal case into how he obtained the powerful painkillers that contributed to his overdose death this year, a law enforcement official said Wednesday.

Prosecutors in the U.S. attorney’s office in Manhattan had been overseeing a D.E.A. probe into whether the painkillers found in Ledger’s system were obtained illegally. But the prosecutors have bowed out “because they don’t believe there’s a viable target,” said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because no charges have been filed.

Looks like potential “viable target” Mary-Kate Olsen is off the hook…for now. Wonder how much THAT cost! The DEA had obtained a subpoena that could have forced Olsen if she continued to hold out. The official added that the case could still be revived if evidence of a crime emerges. MK has been stonewalling investigators, and it looks like for now, it’s paid off.

Rebekah Carmichael, a spokeswoman for the U.S. attorney’s office, said it’s the office’s policy to “neither confirm nor deny the existence of an investigation.” There was no immediate response to a message left for Olsen’s attorney, Michael C. Miller.

DEA investigators suspect the painkillers found in Ledger’s system, oxycodone (Oxycontin)and hydrocodone, were obtained with phony prescriptions or other illegal means.

Snarkista thinks its possible that Mary-Kate could have been involved. Oxy suppresses appetite in many users, and MK has been in rehab for anorexia and is rumored to have had treatment for substance abuse. Her bodyguards had plenty of time to get evidence out of Heath’s apartment, although it would probably have been hard to trace back to her. Unless someone else knew she provided the drugs.

If so, no one is talking, and the lil’ bag lady can sleep a little easier tonight. The Feds can and will reopen the investigation if any pertinent evidence comes to light. Dodged a bullet, Trollsen.

Mary-Kate Olsen Wants Immunity In Heath’s Death Probe

Mary-Kate Olsen has refused to be interviewed by federal investigators probing the accidental drug death of her “close friend” Heath Ledger unless she receives immunity from prosecution. The NY Post is reporting that the actress’ lawyer has repeatedly refused attempts by the feds to question Olsen, who was the first person called when her masseuse discovered Ledger’s body in his apartment in January. Mary-Kate owned the apartment.

Frustrated federal officials may obtain a grand-jury subpoena to compel the actress to tell them whatever she knows about Heath’s behavior, his possible drug use and the events of that tragic morning. Investigators have interviewed everyone connected to Ledger and his death, including his doctors, the masseuse, bodyguards, housekeepers, business associates and even the mother of his 2-year-old daughter, Matilda, actresss Michelle Williams.
A source says:

Everyone has been very eager to help, saying what a great guy Heath Ledger was, everyone except Mary-Kate, who has refused to speak.

That source explained that Olsen would be the last witness they need to interview to finish the investigation into where he got his drugs and medicines.

Ledger died of a potent cocktail of prescription drugs and OxyContin, the latter of which was probably obtained illegally. Instead of calling 911 after getting the call from her masseuse, Olsen telephoned her bodyguards in NY, telling them to race to Heath’s apartment. They arrived just as paramedics got to the scene.

NY State authorities closed their investigation without Mary-Kate’s cooperation, but the US Drug Enforcement Administration, opened an investigation to determine the sources of Ledger’s drugs, and aren’t giving up attempts to talk Olsen. The feds contacted her lawyer, Michael Miller, several times recently asking for her cooperation, but Miller told the feds Olsen won’t be interviewed unless she gets immunity from possible prosecution. Fishy.

Christian Bale’s Sister Tried To Shake Him Down

More details are emerging about the family flap and subsequent arrest of The Dark Knight star. Christian Bale. Christian’s sister Sharon asked him for $200,000 to help her bring up her three children. Sharon is a part-time CLOWN, which would explain her financial trouble. Bale apparently refused, and the spat ensued at his Dorchester Hotel suite.

Christian was alleged to have “pushed and shoved” his mom Jenny, 61, and Sharon, 41. But sources close to Bale, say Jenny inflamed the situation by hurling insults about his wife Sandra Sibi Blazic. As you know, unless you’ve been on a desert island for the past week, the fight happened on Sunday night, hours before Monday’s European premiere of Bale’s new Batman film. Interesting timing on the part of mom and sis! The Sun quotes a source close to the case who said:

Christian is a very wealthy young man and was asked to help his sister out financially.
He was asked to loan her £100,000 (approximately $200,000 US) but he refused and that caused an almighty row. During that row, the women claim, he assaulted them by pushing and shoving them. Both Jenny and Sharon are terribly upset over what happened. They did not want any publicity and the last thing they wanted to do was wreck his premiere evening. But they say he bullied them. They are both devastated that it has come to this but want him to be taught a lesson.

Sounds like someone needs to give the whole clan some counseling. Particularly Sharon the clown, who might want to consider a more lucrative line of work.

Christian Bale Depressed Over Heath, “Flew Into A Rage”

Batman star Christian Bale confronted his mother after she allegedly insulted his wife. Sources close to the actor said he snappped at London’s Dorchester hotel after his mom Jenny Bale said some outrageous things about his wife, Sandra Sibi Blazic. Bale was arrested and bailed over an assault claim, which he has denied.

A source close to the 34-year-old actor says Bale is confident he’s done nothing wrong, and blames his mother. He is also said to have become depressed over the death of close friend and co-star Heath Ledger. The source told the Daily Mail that:

Christian was stressed, but he didn’t lay a finger on anyone. Instead, he flew off the handle and cussed his mother. He just got very loud because his mother was saying some very outrageous things about him, and his wife. Christian’s attitude is that this was his mother’s fault because she became very provocative in an argument they were having.Things got out of control and he now says he wishes he just left the room. Normally Christian would just call a friend and go out to a pub to cool off. But he was literally trapped into this confrontation with his mother and sister because there was an army of fans and paparazzi outside. He has stresses in his marriage. He can have a terrible temper. Instead of lashing out at his wife, he sometimes lashes out at people around him. His marriage is not perfect, but his relationship with his mother is in much more trouble.

Bale has apparently been deeply affected by the death of good friend Ledger, and without Ledger around, he’s found it more and more difficult to communicate with those around him, especially his family. It was reported he found it hard to shake off the mental strains of the role, and told an interviewer he was having trouble sleeping. They had become very close during the making of The Dark Knight and Christian went into virtual hiding for the six weeks after Heath was found dead.

The source says that Bale wasn’t returning phone calls and he wasn’t a happy man. “It’s foolish to think that he’s been able to completely shake off that grief just as Heath and his work is finally being seen by audiences. He expected to share this moment with his friend, and now he can’t.”

Snarkista thinks that Jenny Bale was mad enough at Christian to try and spoil his big moment at the European premier of The Dark Night. With all of the pre-release publicity that centered on Heath, the reminders of his death were everywhere. No one should be “assaulted”, but the charge against Christian is an extremely minor one. It seems like it could have been handled within the family without involving the police.

Peaches Geldof’s Brush With Death After Overdosing

British Celebutante Peaches Geldof stopped breathing for several minutes and could have died or suffered brain damage after a suspected drug overdose in her flat. Peaches is the daughter of Sir Bob Geldof, rock legend from The Boomtown Rats, and organizer of the Live Aid Charity Concerts. Socialite Peaches is quite the party girl, who hangs with Lily Allen, Amy Winehouse, Kelly Osborne and others. She was caught on tape in May buying drugs from one of Amy Winehouse’s drug dealers.

The 19-year-old was given mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and chest compressions by a friendl to keep oxygen pumping to her brain. Emergency crews raced to the scene on Sunday afternoon to find the party-loving part-time TV presenter – daughter of Sir Bob Geldof – unconscious. The incident brought back the tragic memory that Peaches’ mother, Paula Yates, died after an overdose in 2000.

Peaches was successfully revived at the flat in trendy Camden, North London. She began crying hysterically but then refused to go to hospital for fear her rock legend dad, organizer of the Live Aid charity concerts, would find out. Too late, Peaches- I imagine your dad has done what he said he would do if you turned to drugs: go ballistic.

A source said:

Peaches could not breathe for several minutes after suffering a respiratory arrest. Her friend had to give chest pumps and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. If she had not received this she could have died or she could have suffered brain damage. Peaches had gone into respiratory arrest, in which a patient’s breathing stops but the heart doesn’t. It was extremely serious and there is no doubt her friend saved her life.

Another friend told The Sun: “No one could believe this has happened to Sir Bob Geldof’s daughter, particularly considering what happened to her mother.”
